KY jelly is advised and it worked for me when I was first using oxygen .😊👍
I am on oxygen have been for a few years . When my nose is sore I use a saline spray it does the job for me also use it for a blocked nose hope that helps.
Good Morning, ouch very painful.Aqua gel is quite helpful, however best results are often from using it in the nasal passages on a regular basis, before the membranes develop sores.Oxygen can be very drying particularly with long term use.It might be worth asking a member of your clinical team to take a look in your nose. There are various products available to promote healing or clear any infection.Try to drink plenty of you can.I do hope you are soon feeling more comfortable .😄 .
I think you might find that Petroleum Jelly (Vaseline) is not recommend for those using Oxygen, pity as it serves as an excellent barrier .....
KY jelly works for me in just a few hours. I am also on oxygen. Product recommended by oxygen supplier.
Hi - you may find it worth your while to buy an 'Oxyarm' headset to use instead of your cannula. I use mine when I have a bad cold/sore nose. I don't use it for sleep as I toss and turn too much but it does give me relief when just sitting /pottering in the daytime, and gives a chance for any soreness to dissipate. You can buy them from here - I get the adjustable headband one as it's worth getting one that will fit well. It took a few days for delivery but once you have it you can keep it over the years for just those times when your nose is sore. theoxygenstore.com/masks-ca...
Hi, My right nostril was very sore, painful and crusting over so I couldn't breathe properly even with the oxygen. I had to try and soften the crust using KYJelly on the end of a cotton bud.
I did go to the doctor last Thursday and He said why don't you use vaseline to soften the crust to which I explain it wouldn't be wise because of the oxygen. I was given Naseptin Nasal cream and Oral antibiotic.
The cream was very good and by Sunday the crusting had started to go and today Wednesday its gone completely and no pain or bleeding.
Talk to your oxygen supplier about having "wetted" O2. The humidified oxygen is much better on the nostrils, particularly if like me you're on Warfarin, which leads to the occasional nose bleed.
