Pressure sores

Morning all! Hopefully you are ok now that winter is stealing in this week.

A quick question please: have developed a small pressure sore and wondering whether a dressing is advisable. Am using Sorbaderm, which is solely a barrier cream. Any ideas, suggestions most welcome. Thank you.

With me if I get leg ulcers or any sore I put the cream on then wrap with Seran Wrap! Yes Seran Wrap does the trick! Hope it helps! JANET127

Do see a professional won't you. The sores can deteriorate and then take much longer to heal. Best, in the long run to seek a medic ASAP

Please get a nurse or doctor to assess it ASAP as it could turn in to a deep ulcer.

After check with Nurse/doctor, the next queston is, how did you get it? Wrinkled clothing, where you sit? seat not wide enough? or is it from when you are lying down? do you need pressure relief, there is all sorts on the market, some available through District Nurses, some need buying, but need advice to avoid wasting money, or merely reducing the pressure in one area of the body and moving it to another. In this case prevention is always better than cure.

I had the same problem. I have lost a lot of weight, down to 6st 8lb. I have little muscle at base of spine. I bought a doughnut cushion and don't get sores any more. You should try one. Mine only cost me £15

Which type of cushion did you buy - is it a memory foam one? Thanks Panda.

It is a Millard foam cushion with washable cover. £15.99 from Amazon. Did buy an inflatable one but it was rubbish. Hope this helps
