When you swallow, your body shuts your windpipe so that the food goes down to the stomach instead of your lungs. If this is poorly co-ordinated, you can end up breathless, or even have some foods or fluids going down the windpipe. I never used to think about it, but recently I've been breathing a few biscuit crumbs accidentally while eating biscuits, which has really made me cough. Try not to rush with cleaning your teeth and eating, and take smaller mouthfuls and sips.
The answer will only come from the consultant, you will have to be patient. A GP is not an expert with respiratory matters which is why you have been referred to see a consultant. It will be the consultant who will give you a diagnosis and tell the GP what class of drugs you should receive.
Thanks by the way are y gp
No I am not a GP, nobody here is one, just another sufferer who has learned his way around being breathless and learned how to live a reasonably normal life with it. I hope your problem is curable one.
There are many causes to being breathless, one of them is anxiety, so you see, worrying will just make things worse for you.
Hello try to make sure you are sat up straight when eating. And think about the process of eating and swallowing
