Just been to my doctor with severe crackling in my chest. He says my chest is full of what he calls water.and I need to get rid of it.I only came out of hospital a couple of months ago. and didn't expect to be back on Anti-biotics so soon.I use Meditation and affirmations which allows me to cope so I am confident that I will come through this without going back into hospital. Could any-one enlighten me as to what is this so called water.

I would think he is referring to mucus on your chest.

It could be fluid on the lungs, if so it will need to be drained, phone and ask if he is referring you, hope you get better soon x

Mucus? That's what my doctor calls "crackling". Ask him what he means next time. I stopped taking amoxicillin. It didnt work. Depends what bug is detected . Everyone is different .

Hi Ginty - did you replace it with anything else? Do you also suffer from bronchiectasis? Thanks heaps for your time..

Hi, I have bronchiectasis and hand in sputum sample to GP when I am ill but as it's usually Moraxella cattarhalis I have clarithromycin at home to take . If the sample evidendences a different bug the GP phones me to say which antibiotic the lab recommends and I change to that . Hope that helps.

It's all really dependent on the sample results and I see a respiratory consultant once a year at hospital.

This is fluid build up you may need frusomide to relieve it which are tablets to remove excess water from your body from various conditions .

At least 1000mg 3xdaily is a decent dose. It never ever worked for me but then I only had 500mg doses. Refuse it now.

I imagine it's mucus but we can also have water build up. I would ring the GP on Monday for an explanation of which it is. Also, please be sure to go back for a check up the last day or two of the abs course to ensure the infection has cleared (sorry to say, if serious bugs the Amox may not be enough). It's imperative it's cleared or you'll be on yet another course which will lower you immune system even more than it is.

Hope all goes well.
