I went to see Dr on 24 Feb, caught an infection. Following Tues I saw my respiratory nurse as I knew I wouldn't make it up to my Dr's surgery, then on the sat 4 March, my respiratory nurse arranged an ambulance to take me into hospital, chest xray showed I had pneumonia, my sats had dropped to 85. Paramedics had to stabilise me in the house and then again in the ambulance before taking me to hospital. As well as chest xray, I was given magnesium iv, 2 bags of iv antibiotics, nebulisers, blood gases taken 5 times (7 in total) when on Amu I was put on 2 litres of oxygen then increased to 4 litres. By the following Tues I was stable enough to come home, have since developed haemophilius influenza on top of the pneumonia and still struggling. Off for chest xray later and full bloods and then another sputum sample on Monday after antibiotics. It will take time but I will be glad when I am better and can do something other than just lay in bed all day, it's driving me mad now. I have severe copd (emphysema side) and asthma.

Pneumonia
You have been through it, but you will get better it takes time. Take care 😊 xx Bernadette
So sorry that you're having such a tough time. It's going to take a while to get over that. Take care and I hope that you're feeling much better soon. XXX
Look after yourself, San. Take it nice and easy. Pneumonia is a witch x
Hello San15 .
I am so sorry it has been dreadful for you. Those blood gas tests are awfully painful.
Do give yourself ample time to recuperate but I do understand not wanting to be in bed a lot.
I am so glad you are on the mend. Take it a day at a time.
Sending a gentle hug.

It took me a year to get over viral pneumonia. Be patient and just relax and enjoy it because you can do nothing about it other than rest. Very best wishes and good luck.
I do hope that things pick up for you soon, you sound as though you are having a rough time.
How awful for you San and what a lot to cope with. I hope you do make a good recovery and wish you well. Xxxxx
These infections are a nightmare aren't they you have certainly been through it take care x
Hi San you really have been through it no wonder you are feeling so ill. I am just getting over pneumonia I was hospitalised for 5 days treated with all the usual antibiotics had oxygen gasses taken and that is so painful anyway on a lighter note after 2 weeks at home I was so weak I could not even make a cup of tea I was told it could take up to 6 months to get over it bot now after 6 weeks I am feeling so much better I am doing more each day so I hope your recovery is as quick (I also have had radium for lung cancer ) thought I would mention it to show you can recover. Take care let us know how you get on xx Sue 💐💐
I hope youre feeling better soon
wow, you sure have been through a lot! hope you are able to spring back.
You have certainly been through the mill!! Hope things get easier from here on in & you'll be back on your feet soon - but try not to do too much too soon x
Sorry to her your struggle. 16 months ago I got viral pneumonia and rushed into Hospital where I suffered respiratory failure and then three weeks in Intensive care where I am told I almost died. Its been a rocky road since coming out of hospital with a fair month or two interspersed with a month or so of infections. I have recently struggled to drop to 8 mg steroid a day and started a third Rehab programme . Rest and get every form of recovery that is offered. Best of luck. I am 70 diagnosed 15 years ago Emphysema and COPD severely.
Thank you everyone for all the good wishes, I'm so pleased to all who have recovered from pneumonia. I hope you are all well. I had a chest xray today and full bloods so now a wait until Tuesday for the results. They weren't going to xray me as they said it was too soon but they eventually took it. My youngest daughter moved into her own place today so all my children have now started their own lives. Love and best wishes to you all xxxx
So sorry to hear you have been so poorly I do hope you are soon up and about. I also have severe emphysema and only 15 % lung function it really gets you down I know to be so inactive. Here's to your quick recovery 💐

I GOT THIS YEARS ''FLU'' IN JANUARY , A FEW OF MY FRIENDS GOT IT TOO , WE ARE ARE STILL FEELING THE AFTERMATH , IT SEEMS TO COME BACK A FEW TIMES , LIKE IT DID LAST YEAR . I HAVE END STAGE C.O.P.D AND I HAD TO GO TO THE DOCS 10 DAYS AGO TO TAKE A SPUTUM SAMPLE IN AND GET ANOTHER SCRIP . I SLOWLY WENT INTO DOC , WENT TO CHEMIST (IN THE CAR ) AND GOT 2 ESSENTIAL ITEMS OF SHOPPING. BACK IN THE CAR I TOOK MY SATS , THEY HAD GONE DOWN TO 62 , WENT ON OXYGEN AT 4L INSTEAD OF 2 AND SLOWLY WENT UP AGAIN TO 88 , ALSO ON WAY HOME I STOPPED BREATHING ( MY SEEM TO STICK TOGETHER SOMETIMES AND I CANT GET AIR IN ) HAD TO STOP CAR AND AGAIN SLOWLY GET THINGS BACK TOGETHER . I AM MUCH BETTER NOW BUT MY LEFT LUNG STILL FEELS FULL ALTHOUGH WHAT LITTLE COMES UP IS CLEAR . HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON , POST VIRAL INFECTION IS A REAL PROBLEM XXXXXXX
