Hi could you tell me if this is right ? The daughter has just got the Carer's allowance and I have noticed that they have taken it from my disability income guarantee.

Employment and support allowance
If your daughter completed a clerical claim form, the person she is caring for will need to confirm in writing that they know she is claiming Carer's Allowance and that she cares for someone for at least 35 hours a week. There is a section on the claim form for you to complete.
You have to fill this in because you could lose the severe disability premium in your income-related benefit or the addition for severe disability in your Pension Credit.
Check it out here:

Great reply mrsm x
It is the benefit balancing act, you are allowed x amount, but in a variety of ways if your condition merits it........ but if you are already on maximum benefits and apply for another you are entitled to, then you will get it but your main benefit will be reduced to balance it back to the maximum...........PIP is not taken into account ever though................
Thank you.
Hi Spikex1x, before medical retirement, I was a manager with the DWP. Comments here seems to be generally correct. However, the reason your money is reduced . . . Part of the calculation of your benefit was a sum of money in order to purchase or provide certain areas of care. As your carer is now covering those needs, the money you were originally given is, effectively, passed onto them.
Thank you.
