A careline lady came round yesterday to install my stuff. She said, what with me being on full time oxygen i should apply for attendance allowance. However, the notes say it is for personal care, getting out od bed, getting washed rtc. I can do all that. What i need is someone to do cleaning, cut the grass etc. Is there any chance i could get help with paying for that sort of thing?

I suggest you phone Biddy on the BLF Helpline - 03000 030 555. Have a look at her post to see when she is available healthunlocked.com/blf/post........ She'll be able to advise you on which benefits are applicable to you.
Good luck, Annie
Citizens advice are very helpful
Hi you say you can do the personal care but the question is can you do it safely and timely? if for example it takes you an hour to get up and get dressed and you have to have time to recover this would give you points.
Why not visit a local disability centre or CAB and they will be able to help you filling out the forms. x
I found st. Banabas very helpful. They came to see me and asked questions. They advised best way to answer. They filled my forms in for me. I just had to sign and they even posted them for me. I think they only operate in Lincolnshire.
Take some advise it’s the way these forms are completed that matters. You have to look at the worst day possible, what you use to mobilise, bath or shower and what aids you have etc.
I got it for my mum who is 85, manages her personal care ok but she has a walk in shower, she has MS and arthritis but still feisty.
Feel free to PM me if you need any help

Try your local Age Concern they normally have volunteers who can help or even some local churches
Age Concern filled mine and my husband's forms in. I got higher rate attendance allowance and my husband got lower rate. It is NOT means tested that's good. You can use the money as you wish to help you with your condition and make life easier for you. It is NOT to be used for bills etc just to help you make life easier. Sheila.
