I read this as well Jeff - caused a bit of consternation as my 14year old Grandson plays the trumpet & his 11year old brother plays the saxophone . Always something to worry about isn't there ?

if this helps, I played the flute from age 6 to 18. Iplayed it because the breathing discipline helped me to handle my condition. I never caught an infection from it. I did clean it through with a cloth soaked in dettol threaded on to the cleaning stick. I presumethat trumpets and saxaphones have a similar means of cleaning.
Hi stone, I have been nebulising since 1982 - one thing or another. I have never caught an infection because I employ basic hygeine principals. Wash it out after every use and boil for ten mins every week with a couple of drops of washing up liquid.
I just wash my nebuliser mask and medication container in hot water.....should I use Milton or similar. Trouble is my small hand held nebuliser has a metal diffuser.
Any information welcome. As you say something else to worry about.
Clean after each use: Wash the container and mouthpiece or mask with dish soap and hot water. Shake off the excess water and let the parts air dry. Remove any mucus or medicine stuck to the machine or tubing.
Disinfect at least 3 times a week: Soak the nebulizer parts in diluted white vinegar or the disinfecting solution that your primary healthcare provider recommends. Soak for as long as directed. Rinse the parts and let them air dry.
Thanks for that Tee - hadn't come across any verified cases so far but I'll certainly "up" my cleaning regime on my tips. The propylene glycol is an anti-bacterial but they still need a daily wash-out.
