ive recently been told i have a shadow on my right lung and the consultant said worse case its cancer i had blood tests done a ct scan a spirometer test done im just waiting to hear from the consultant what other diseases could it be

Hi ganza

Your consultant is duty bound to let you know what the worst case scenario could be, but it is just that, a worst case. There are many other reasons why you can have a shadow on your lung. The fact your consultant is being very proactive in doing a ct scan, blood count and spirometry will to find out the exact cause. I have had bronchiectasis all my life but a few years ago a shadow showed up on a routine xray in clinic. My consultant arranged a ct scan as he had to check it out. It turned out to be the remnants of an infection.

Do you know yet when your next appointment with the consultant will be? It is of course the waiting which is so hard. I am hoping for a good outcome for you sweet. Please let us know how you get on.

i was supposed to see the consultant on friday but didnt have ct scan till thursday so will find out next week thanks for the concern will let u know x

Hi ganza and welcome.

I had and was told the same before I was diagnosed with emphysema. In my case the shadow was the result of a severe lung infection which took a long time to clear, but when the lung infection cleared so did the shadow.

Hello ganza you have certainly come to the right place for help.

In my case I was sure it was cancer as I had never had a lung infection,I had but hadn't realised at the time. The waiting was horrific as I had convinced myself I was going to die. After this my condition worsened and I think I lost the will.

It was emphysema and without treatment had got worse.

I have stopped smoking and started fighting the illness. I hate losing.

i have a shadow on my lung too ... just called lung disease ? never bin told its lung cancer ..do u smoke?
