Had a letter from the hospital regarding my out of hours visit re: bringing up some blood.

47 year old made fully checked over, co2 97 very healthy heart rate and pulse, no high temprature, special blood test negative to blood clot in lung, chest x-ray clear apart from emphysema precent, all blood counts very normal, male is extremely fit and healthy.

Doesn't explain crackel In lower left lung though or bringing up some blood when I slightly clear my throat.

My own doctor wants to see me on Tuesday to double check things.

Hi,  think you will find the blood in the throat is caused by the straining involved  when clearing your throat.    Loads of tiny blood vessels in that area. You were well checked over  recently ,anything  wrong would have been found. Don't worry,   enjoy Easter .

Hi David, wonderful news. Don't eat too many Easter Eggs!!

Best regards.

Ps. Just in passing hubby had a follow up CT scan due to a little bit of blood and was given the all clear yesterday. It seems the scan only showed mild hyperinflation. Arrangements are being made to visit the clinic where full history will be taken and we will go from there.

hi 1968, I have IPF, with the cracklely lungs and even when I don't have infections, I cough up little bits of blood, I don't know why, but it does not last long.  I thought it was some thing to do with the inflammation of the lungs and was part of the disease.

hope you get to the bottom of it next week, happy easter!!

best wishes MM.  xxx

Hi 1968, when I have coughed up blood in the past I was asked if it was clots or streaks....streaks can be caused when there is slight trauma to the lungs after coughing for example and the capillaries may be damaged and bleed.

Also if I have a cold and blow my nose often, or have infected sinuses , I can get slight blood loss which drips down the back of my throat. I have permanent crackles in my lungs and a wheeze...polyphonic lungs one nurse informed me...sounds very musical.

I am glad you got checked out though, crackling and bleeding should always be investigated. Take care

It's possible that in keeping clearing your throat will have damaged some of the little blood vessels.  Your doctor sounds thorough - so enjoy your weekend.  Let us know please?
