Evening

I was at my doctors as I've been bringing up small amounts of blood when I cough/clear my throat.

Been doing it for about a week but after naging from the wife i went to the docs.

He did all the usual checks then listened to my chest and back, he said he could hear some crackling in my lower left lung. Sent me to hospital for more tests. Co2 was 97 heart rate was excellent blood counts were good xray showed nothing untoward no change in my bullous emphysema no progression shown on xray, checked my chest and back again and he could still hear crackling in lower left lung.

Said not to worry could be a viral infection and blood most likely coming from wracking my throat slightly and I cough, if it persists go back to my docs.

I'm more concerned out the crackling in my lower left lung.

Is this anything to worry about?????

If in lower lobe of lung, maybe a scan is needed as X-Ray do not allways pick up the Problem.

Crackling, usually means ab's for me. If these don't work, ask for a scan. X

Hi 1968,

I have read up on your postings since you joined the forum and I can see that you have had a little blood showing on a couple of occasions. You are also having a 'top up' so to speak of hemoglobin every few months. Can I ask whether they have tested you for vit K deficiency or mild factor deficiency.

The only reason I ask is that hubby has hemophillia C which was only highlighted in his 30s.

Also when you was first diagnosed with copd did the chest X-ray show at that time bollous emphysema, hyperinflation or a flattened diaphragm or was that only picked up on CT scan?

Hope you don't mind my asking as Hubby diagnosed end last year so finding my way around this condition.

Best regards

Hi and thank you for your reply.

I was diagnosed in December 2009 with gallbladder issue, I was taken into hospital for testing, chest xray identified emphysema, no symptoms at all, gallbladder taken out early 2010, follow up tests identified low hemoglobin and iron difisancy, Ct scan then identified bullous emphysema, stopped smoking that day.

Been seeing my hemoglobin specialist every 3 months for full blood counts and blood checks.

I've lost how many times I've had cameras up and down all over to check things out, all showed fine.

Still my hemoglobin and iron drifts up and down.

They are at a loss to explain this, been told that Common in females due to monthly cycle, however I did assure them I was born male and been male for 47yrs lol.

My bullous emphysema has not changed since being diagnosed, changed my life about and still not on medication.

I only take 1 iron tablet oer day.

I exercise twice per day, eat ok and work

I've got my own doctor to see next Tuesday for the crackle in my lower left lung, but even he is at a loss to the hemoglobin issues, infact I didn't smoke a lot per day and he is convinced I was born with this bullous emphysema, ive got hyperinflation lungs but it doesn't bother me.

Hi David, so the first xray was able to identify emphysema and the follow up ct scan identified it as bullous emphysema.

Did it cause much of a problem under anesthetiser?
