Looks good! Only problem I can see is how do you cook the stew to go with the mash if it takes all day to cook the mash?

I might be missing the point here completely, I've not got a slow cooker. So apologies to all you slow cooker experts!

Take care 😀

Glad u said it first jessy, I thought the same, can't quite grasp why u cook mash all day when it only takes 20 mins to boil spuds and mash em. I only tend to cook casseroles and stews in my slow cooker if I'm going out for a long period of time, if I'm home it's in the oven for a 1/3 of the time it takes in a slow cooker. Xx sonia xx

if we've had a long day at the hospital it is lovely to come home and everything is ready to dish up

your stew would be cooking in the bottom of your slow cooker and your mash in the bag on the top of that

no problem I really enjoy using my slow cooker and hubby hasn't moaned about the food coming out of it, it has also made a huge difference to my electricity bill

That sounds a great idea. My problem with slow cookers is the timing. Can things be cooked for shorter times, such as 5 hours for instance?

They can depends on the recipe, chicken for instance will only take 4-5 hours, if you are following a recipe then it should give you timings for both low and high

Most slow-cookers have slow and fast. The fast is usually 1/2 the time of slow. I just use my judgement, start fast and slow it down if to quick for what i want. There are plenty of recipes on line try one and see how you go.
