Can anyone recommend a nice small bag to carry a small oxygen cylinder preferably hand held as don't like over the shoulder or back pack. Would love colour coordination with outfit but asking to much. I'm only kidding. Lol🤣🤣
I have been supplied with smaller cylinders as lighter to carry .
Off to dentist on Monday complete with oxygen, wish me luck. A little nervous but has to be done xSheila

Hello garshe. Have a look at the Mia Tui website. They have lots of bags designed to be useful and they come in different types and great colours. Be warned, when you have bought one you could end up with 10 like me. I hope that you find something to suit you.x
Hi Sheila 😊 This kind of thing isn't really my bag (!!) but I hope you get what you're looking for.
I just wanted to wish you well for Monday, I know how daunting going out is after such a long time. I had, and still do to a lesser degree real anxiety issues. Once out, I am fine.
I hope the dentist goes well and that you get out for more fun things also xx
Did you have a good look through the Etsy offerings? I think there were some options to have the bags made to your own specifications. Perhaps you could get a new career as a bag designer if you come up with something super modern!
Good luck with your outing to the dentist! It's not my favourite thing to do and I doubt it's yours, but it will be a step back to normality and, if you crack that one, there may then be more enjoyable trips to look forward to.
Hi Sheila I found this on Amazon it’s a nice colour purple and would surely match one of your nice outfits. It’s hand held or shoulder strap. All the best for Monday
Hope it goes well for you on Monday, if you haven’t found a bag maybe have a look on the Next website, you may know already but they do many brands now not just NEXT own label also, the next day delivery option is very helpful if it’s a last minute purchase.
When I first walked in with my oxygen bag which i carry by the side handle as I can't get it on as a backpack, my elderly dental technician asked what instrument I played. You will be fine and hopefully ready for more outings. x
It’s a new experience, I recently had my first hospital appt with my oxygen bottle and I managed the GPs for a blood test and took the cat to the vets. I have a large cylinder with a backpack so if I need both hands free I use it as a backpack but if not I just hang it over the shoulder. I managed to get some 4ft cannula leads rather than the 7ft ones supplied as I find the long ones are a trip hazard with the backpack. It won’t be long before you are able to go anywhere with your oxygen with any worries. Good luck at the dentist.
I'm not good on bags- the last one I bought was on Braintree market, not exactly the height of fashion, but I hope you find something pretty to match your outfits. The dentist will be wowed if you go in one of your pretty dresses. My dentist is a very sweet, small Indian lady, working part time while her children are small. She doesn't look hefty enough to handle her various implements, but she does. Very best of luck for your appointment- I can see it must be stress provoking beforehand. Hope all goes well and fixes your teeth up as good as new.. xxxx Chris
Good luck tomorrow Sheila 🤞🏼 When I had my first trip to the dentist with oxygen last year, I was so anxious. In fact, I avoided going out at all. It does get easier, it will just take time. Sorry I can't help with the bag. I have the big heavy ones from Baywater 😫
Hi Sheila, I understand what a big deal it is going out for (I think) the first time with oxygen. I do want to reassure you the world won't fall in. There are different ways to look at it. You have been such a great role model for people with lung disease not giving up and continuing to take pleasure in life - all your beautiful outfits are evidence of that.
I want to suggest that a similar attitude to oxygen can make it easier. I think of myself - and others who are seen outdoors with oxygen - as an oxygen warrior. The more other people see us living our lives while using supplementary oxygen, the more ordinary it becomes for those people, and also less frightening for people like us using it for the first time outside; and the less it gets associated with illness and becomes just what it is - namely another prescription, in much the way e.g. thyroxine is for the thyroid, just a bit more visible.
From the photos Ive seen you post here you are far too striking for the oxygen to be the main thing people would notice about you. I hope you can find a bag that works for you, and I wish you luck on your trip to the dentist. Take care and let us know how you get on
Couldn't agree more....I dreaded going out the first time with my Oxygen....I tried to think about how it would enable me to do more and it does now it's like glasses bag car keys racksack. And out I trot with purple hair and funky ear rings. Good luck at the Dentist.
Not good small cylinder ran out oxygen. Whilst I was on way home . Bad day. The cylinder only lasts 1hr and 42 mins using on 3 L. Also filling fell out before I left Practice. I had spare cylinder in boot of car but that was empty also. Hubby phoned 999 ambulance came within 10mins brought me home on oxygen in ambulance .Small cylinders are a waste of space .xx.Sheila
Wow - that's really hard Sheila. They should have told you how limited the time is with one small cylinder at your prescription. They work great for me but I use just 2 lpm and only need O2 if I am out walking/exertion etc. Your oxygen nurse should be able to advise more appropriate delivery for you. Hopefully it will get better but it's a shame it went wrong on your first trip out. Crossing fingers things improve.
