I'm looking for a doctor who specialises in Bronchiectasis!

Hello everyone! I suffer from bronchiectasis and I need to find a new consultant that specialises in that area of lung disease. Can anyone recommend a top consultant? I live close to Reading/Camberley/Guildford and I do not mind travelling to London or anywhere else in the South/East to see a specialist. I can go NHS or Private.

Hi Jelutong

These two are from the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Unit list dated 2010, so although I recognise some of the consultants' names, some may have changed.

Have heard good things about both cf/bronchiectasis units.

Hi Cofdrop and

Jelutong

Just thought I would mention that Dr Ron Knight is not practising at the moment. I'm so very sad about this as he was my Consultant and a brilliant one too.

I'll keep watching this thread as I am also looking for a better Consultant than I've had very recently

All the very best

You're welcome Jelutong - it can take forever to find a good specialist with no lead.

Dr Ron Knight was my consultant too which is why I'm looking for a new one....I agree, he was really good. Who is looking after you at the moment Jemma? I'm looking at Dr Charlotte Rayner who is based at Parkside Hospital in Wimbledon, but would like to check out a few others before I make that all important phone call.

Hi, I have been a long time friend and patient of doctor Ron Knight at Frimley Park hos.

now he has gone I am still at Frimley as the young lady who I had a long time ago under doctor Ron Knight is now taken his place at Frimley she id now doctor Alex Higton and has a brilliant team working with her along with Tim Ho who has been there for years working with Ron Knight, they work to the same high standard as Bromton treating you like one of a family and with great interest in your well being.

I fully recommend the team at Frimley.

I go to Dr Indranil Chakravorty who works at St George's Tooting and privately in Hertfordshire. I find he is brilliant.

I attend the London Chest Hospital at Bethnal Green. (I used to live in East London, but still go there even though I moved to Dorset 3 years ago.) Not sure whether East London would be convenient for you but I can recommend the team which is headed by Prof. Neil Barnes. I usually see the other consultant, Dr Danie Watson, and she is very good. It is so important to find a good consultant. Best of luck!

I will certainly check out all the people that are recommended. I'd prefer local to my area or West London but like you, I will travel if need be. Thanks for your recommendation...xL

I also suffer from Bronc, have been off work ill for a month due to severe chest infection. I am waiting on appointment with respiratory clinic at my hospital in Fife. That would be your best bet. Unless anyone else knows different, I do not know of any specific Bronc specialist. It was a chest specialist who diagnosed me with Bronc on top of my chronic asthma. Good luck.
