A technophobe in lockdown

I'm really a slate and chalk girl. I've never learned to drive my laptop/phone/tv/dvd player. If anything needs sorting I take it to the shop or call up one of my grandchildren, they pop round and sort it for poor old fashioned Granny.

I have a Virgin phone. (an aside that should make you laugh. When I needed a new phone my helpful daughter texted asking what network I was with and did I want to stay with them. Not thinking I texted back "Am virgin at the moment but open to offers" - I've never lived that down)

Weeks ago Virgin sent me a new SIM card, I must exchange it or my phone wont work. All my numbers were on my SIM. Of course I would go to the shop/call up a grandchild, however I'm still shielding.

So, after going online, spending hours trying to understand what I had to do I finally transferred my contact details into the phone and changed the SIM.

Honestly a whole morning!

When Covid has gone I'm going to be much happier.

:) I'm a virgin ---- touched for the very first time ha ha that did make me laugh wheezy.

Oh I know what you mean about trying how to on Virgin pages - all the information is there but its getting to the page then going through the instructions bit by bit.

It takes time. I dread it when I have to change my hub, disconnecting, reconnecting, getting the printer to work again etc.

Still it keeps the ol grey matter pink ;)

Ha ha. When I had my Vodaphone phone and their network and had problems I would go into the shop especially as they had call centres in India and I couldn't understand them or vice versa. That was until 1 day I was told they have a new policy of charging £29.50 to answer questions. When I got a new phone guess who changed in disgust? Will never use their phones or networks again. x

Know how you feel. I had a new phone and a new tablet at xmas, which I'm still grappling with. The tablet specialises in flashing messages at me of the ' do you wish to enable/disable flying pigs option ? '. I dont know ! What do the pigs do ? I have no idea. Its nerve wracking. My sister recently confided that she took a valium before tackling her new phone....
