Could anyone advise me if they use a spacer for Spiriva Respimat. I use a spacer for Ventilin, which is great, but wasn’t sure if could use a spacer with Spiriva.

Thankyou

I was advised not to use a spacer when I started it and don”t have any problems with it. I know that some people do choose to use a spacer with theirs though. Sorry, I know that doesn’t really help you much.

I have spiriva Respimat and I don't use spacer, I don't think it's possible. I just rinse.

you’re not advised to use a spacer with it, and anyway the mouthpiece wouldn’t fit properly so some of the medication would escape

Hi Tony,

I did use a spacer with Spiriva Respimat and it did help. You do have to push it in to the end of the spacer, but it did work.

I've changed medication now, but did use a spacer and Spiriva for some time, beforehand.

Hi Ann, thanks for your reply, I do have a problem using Spiriva, as it tends to make me cough while inhaling, that’s why I asked if anyone used a spacer with this medication. Out of interest what type of inhaler did you change to after Spiriva. Thankyou again for your message

Hi Tony my spiriva comes with a hand held deliverer.A button on a small circular grey and green hand held device pierces the green capsule and its inhaled from the mouthpiece at the top (under the lid).

Sorry I can't describe it any clearer but can add that the capsules are in 5 day strips and have to be protected from the light.

Best wishes

Hi Tony. As others have stated I don't think Spiriva Respimat is to be used with a spacer. I started with Spiriva Respimat which also made me cough, I now use Stiolto Respimat which works better for me, it is 2 medications in one inhaler made by the same company. Hope you find a long acting inhaler that works better for you. Angie

Hi, thankyou for your reply, Spiriva also makes me cough, that’s why I thinking of using a spacer. I will ask my doctor if I can go onto  Stiolto Respimat that you use. Thanks again for your info 😊
