Well I have finished my rehab course and now have a certificate? trouble is I am supposed to keep going with an exercise programme, but we all know how boring that is on your own, so might look into Thai Chi or Pilates..anyone any experience of these disciplines?.

Thai Chi is is very rewarding and not difficult to learn. It helps you center yourself and provides full motion mobility exercise. Pilates is very powerful and builds excellent strength. Both need dedication and although both can be done in a group format, I enjoyed both practices at home alone when I needed a feeling of wellbeing.

I hope you enjoy whichever you pick.

regards,

Ramona

I haven't done Thai Chi but used to go to classes for Pilates and Hatha Yoga. I haven't the stamina for classes bur do a mixture of both at home when I feel able. Pilates is definitely good for core muscle strength, yoga for me flexibility and most important relaxation and control of breathing. K

Hi romfty, I used to go to a weekly cardiac rehab exercise session at my local gym, as there wasn't a pulmonary session then. Check your local leisure centre to see if they have anything suitable...tai chi was sometimes part of cardio rehab. The BLF have a free exercise DVD too.

well done getting your certificate, I used to do pilates, but had to stop because of my RA as couldn't put any weight on my wrists etc, but I am thinking of doing Tai Chi, there is a class at our local sports centre, and I have just renewed my gym membership, it is included in that so watch this space...... :-)

If you prefer group exercises, Romfty, check to see if there are any Breath Easy groups in your area.

Enjoy !
