Pulmonary rehab

Well I've done my 6 weeks and wow, far better than I could have expected.

I've learned so much!! Especially how to breath and that being breathless is normal for anyone at times.

I've even signed up to the interactive sessions which for someone with a fear of exercising is amazing.

What I really wanted to say is if any of you get offered pr grab it with both hands

I've been to pulmonary rehab a few times and reallyenjoyed it. Have a great day and take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxx

What a great result, congratulations! 😀 I’m hoping to do the same and with the same result. But so far have turned up twice for my assessment without a blue inhaler and been sent home in disgrace. I’m thinking of strapping one to my leg before my third try on Thursday. 🙄

Haha ! I must admit I never needed mine. The air conditioning really helped me which goes to show how much pollution causes me issues. I bought a little unit for my lounge but can't use it as it terrifies the dog 🐕!!!

Whichever coat you’ll be wearing tomorrow get the blue inhaler in the pocket now Don !!! Hubby’s done the course , found it really beneficial and enjoyed the social side too 😊

That is a very good idea, I have put one in the car but then started to think I should use the campervan to give the battery a bit f a charge! 😱 The social side is the main reason for me having a go, I don’t know what their attitude will be when they find I can hardly walk at all.

I think everyone feels like that before they go Don , when Geoff went there were two separate groups and after the initial assessment he was put in the top class 😃 despite him thinking he was too poorly to do anything at all. I went with him for the assessment and there was a lady there ( (who was put into the other group ) who was dragging the 02 on a trolley, legs massively swollen, hardly able to walk and just looked really poorly but she did the course and Geoff has just told me that one man did the whole course in a wheelchair it’s all tailored to individual capabilities and it did Geoff a world of good mentally as well as physically Talking to other men struggling with the same problems was really good for him Now get that inhaler in yer pocket !! Xx

There were a couple of people on my course who weren't very mobile so the physios adapted some of the exercises for them. I was a bit disappointed about the social side because with distancing there wasn't much opportunity to talk. Saying that it was good to be in a group of like-minded people

That was my problem Don .. and they just couldn't understand why I couldn't sit straight in a chair.

Pedal a bike in the Gym.

Walk up stairs one foot at a time.

This despite it being obvious that I was left with a fixed knee - following a road accident.

I had to fetch another chair myself .. to rest my leg on .. so I could sit up straight as requested.

There were other matters which they failed to understand- so with regret I had to abandon the course.

Shame.

Not too sure about the interactive course but will definitely give it a go. On the plus side you can do it barefoot in your PJ's !!! Maybe I'm over cautious but I'm only venturing out for essential things so anything at home is a blessingJust waiting for the link to be sent. Will update after I've tried it. Watch this space x

Must admit it was a bit tough at times but it's quite amazing what you can achieve with help and encouragement. Enjoy...,,, ,

I did it in 2011 and 2016 and although the exercises were tough (some said cruel) it was surprising how much I ended up being able to do. We had weekly follow up class at our local leisure centre, tailored to COPD but sadly this closed with the first lockdown. However my condition is so much worse now that I doubt I could do it again. x

That is great to hear. Thanks for posting as I am sure people who read your comments will find them both reassuring and encouraging especially if they are considering or have been referred to PR.
