Spacers for inhalers

I've read several posts about the benefits of using spacers in conjunction with inhalers.

The practice nurse at my local clinic gave me one for use with ventolin.

Are there also spacers available for the other kinds of inhalers, i.e. Spiriva & Seretide?

I have one for seretide, Mr Happy ( lovely name) for not spiriva. With my spiriva, not sure how you could apply a spacer. xx

I now have a small one (like a baby bottle) for my salbutamol.....much better than the big thing.

Hi spacers are all the same , they only work with mist inhalers not powder or liquid.

The one you use for ventolin will also work the seretide metered inhaler. Not the powdered disk.

Hi Symbicort is powder do not try and use a spacer it will not work. I have been using it for many years.

Well it's not powder so it must be a mist! Thank you stone x

The Symbicort I used to use wouldn't have worked with a spacer, it was breath actuated, same as my blue one which is EasiBreath. Wish it was Ventolin though so I can use a spacer

You can use salbutamol easi-breathe with a spacer, undo top put inhaler in spacer and press down small canister. As far as I know only powder types cannot be used with spacer.D.

The small modern spacer available on prescription from your doctor is called an "Aero Chamber Plus". As long as they are regularly cleaned they should last at least a year, and are just about small enough to stuff in your coat pocket or your handbag.

I use the ballon type spacer. My Grandson's asthma nurse told me that they are much more effective at getting the medication deeper into lung. It fits both Ventolin and Seratide, as I use both of those. As far as I know, you don't need one with the spiriva as it has it own special device that you use with it. My mom was recently in hospital with respiratory problem and used it as it before. With the spacers, they need to be washed regularly in hot soapy water, but not rinsed just left to dry. This is because it put a film in the spacer that prevents the medication sticking, meaning more gets into your lungs. Just ask your doctor if you want the balloon type. Not sure if that's the correct term.

I have used an Aero chamber for a number years. Using it with Seretide, no matter how gently I breath in the thing whistles ! Using it with Ventolin it is very quiet. Somehow I think that is not right ?

My 3rd day in the USA ( Cape Cod ) with lovely warm temperatures @ 77F.However the pollen count is VERY high and I am using a double dose of ceterazine. So far breathing is normal, the fishing awesome and there are plenty of whales to go and watch tomorrow, 90 minutes from here ;-)
