Any ideas best sun block to use with thinning of the skin due to steroids. I have noticed with a high factor my skin is going red quick.
I don't sit in the sun now I am always in the shade and still go brown.
Did you know that you should not sit in the sun when you are taking certain antibiotics because you can burn quicker.

With th weather today, not a problem, rain, but you should be prepared. Think it best to speak to your doctor, or maybe approach the British skin foundation. Or your pharmacist. All the best, debbie xx
Hi i sat in the sun on sunday had factor 30 on a went red in no time, i dont normally have this problem, due to go to Spain on saturday, do love the sun but dont want to burn. X
Factor 30 is too low if you burn easily, you can get 50 + factor protection now, to protect you skin you could also wear long sleeves or sit in the shade.
Here is a good article about sunscreens and mentioning the best are those that have both UVA and UVB protection.

If you want exposure to absorb vitamin D you should leave off the sunscreen and only expose skin before 10.30 or after 4pm avoiding the most harmful of the sun's rays. You can get a good even colour this way, but if its really hot just cover up or sit in the shade I would.
As mentioned the BSF can advise you further on safety aspect, they have a community at Health Unlocked (see My communities tab, top of page and browse to BSF)
Debbie I know this may seem like a silly question but how long have you had your sun cream? Are you aware it can loose its effectiveness if it has been opened too long? Try children's sun screen it seems to be more effective.
Enjoy your holiday I am quite jealous

I use Le Roche Posay factor 50 I find it the best one. Try and stay out of the mid day sun and if possible sit under an umberella. Enjoy your hols.
Thank you copdber i have not heard of that sun cream, i will now make sure im carefull in the mid day sun. X
A good sunblock should do the trick. Try a kiddies one as they are usually the best. Hope you don't turn red again as you do need to take care. Pete has a skin condition called vitiligo (auto immune) where his skin is very pale in some areas on his face, hands and arms so he has to use a sunblock or the pale skin goes very red, very quickly. Take care and good luck to you. xxxx
Thank you for that advice, my grandaughter has got vitiligo on her arms. I just dont want to burn so im sure i will now be very catefull. Kids sun cream it is. Xx
