Your probably right. More antibiotics and steroids which are a necessary evil. Hate the way the steroids make me feel so low. Thanks anyway.

Hi Debs I dont have your particular condition (I have copd and emphysema) but the colds on top of anything else are scary. Along with doctor's advice what helps me with colds and prevention of colds is oranges or any other vitamin C you can tolerate and Wellwoman from Boots, for the immune system. Hope you feel better soon

I have bronchiectasis and asthma. Colds are a unwanted extra. I have returned home from a house full of colds but luckily I was on antibiotics. Hope you are better soon. Love Annie80

I have bronchiectasis and asthma, and like you I had a chest infection then got a cold on top, I have had 2 courses of antibiotics and 1 course of steroids, you need to see your doctor if you are feeling poorly, you will probably need antibiotics, you have got to be careful with your chest. just rest and take plenty of fluids and sleep if you can.. hope you feel better soon x

Thanks for your advice and kind words. X

Hi Debs. Apparently if you keep your gut healthy that accounts for 80 % of your immune system. I get Super Probiotics from Healthspan (this also encourages prebiotic growth) Found this helpful re warding colds off as before a person with a cold just seemed to look at me and I was infected. Also eat 2 red skinned pples a day - this seems to help with general health and acid reflux (from medication). Probiotics help balance gut after taking anti-biotics. Happy New Year KatieJJ

hi debs

i have the same illness as you, and thanks to my grandchildren and sons i have bronchitis, i have a supply of antiotics all the time, so i have put myself on them, i should be ok for my 70th birthday party on the 6th jan.

there are so many colds going around and thats how i caught the cold, i cannot have steriods because i am insulin controlled diabetic, i am on a steriod inhaler which is safe to use.

i do wish everyone a happy new year and trust some of illnesses will improve, roll on summer, not to hot not to chilly, and little rain

love jan x

Thanks Jan. Had a phone consultation with gp today and was given ciproflaxin antibiotic, so hopefully that should help matters. Still feel rough but having plenty of rest. Thank god I have time off from my two jobs. Yes roll on summer. Love Debs x

Hi Gleaved

Glad you have the cipro. Did you manage to get a sputum sample in. Can be helpful if you can manage it. Good to do your physio more frequently than is your norm whilst you have an infection. Do you take a mucolytic or nebulise saline I wonder - it would help you get rid of the gunk.

Hope you feel better soon.

Love xxx
