I was on fostair 100, double dose morning and night, which failed to control my asthma and I ended up in hospital.

They then put me on fostair 200, which did not suit me, as we are all different.

I was then put back on fostair 100 under the Mart regime, which allows me to take up to eight doses a day. I like it, as my asthma is very variable, and this allows me to alter my dosage, and reduce my need for salbutamol, which for me became ineffective if used a lot.

Fostair 100/6 suits me very well indeed. I use the spray type MDI (metered dose inhaler) which is in the MART regime (maintenance and reliever therapy). My dose is two puffs am and pm as well leaving me 4 extra puffs a day should I need them however, in summertime (my best time) one puff is usually sufficient am and pm leaving ne six extras should the need arise. Before a long walk I'll take an extra puff.

Having said that the weather where live is quite chilly & breezy at the moment (more pollen around too) which makes my asthma iffy so I'm using one or two extra puffs.

I haven't used the maximum 8 puffs daily except during a 6 week long infection in January 2023.

I'm very pleased I can manage on the lower dose Fostair MDI inhaler. Check the leaflet well, new inhalers often don't kick in immediately, give a new regime at least 2 weeks to work (or whatever the leaflet advises).

PS check the manufacturer's website for correct inhaler technique.

I’ve just been switched to Fostair after years using Seretide.

Dose for dose, Fostair is struggling to control my mild asthma and has started to affect me at work.

I appreciate that the weaker doses can be made more effective by the finer dispersion of Fostair, but my body is really not convinced.

Not what you're looking for?
