Hello all , I got a question about my therapy... I was prediscribed foster inhaler 100/6 2x puff morning and 2x evening and 1x when needed... The problem is I am using foster for 2y now everyday but I dont see improvement since I cant imagine day without it and I am ussualy on 5 puffs per day (max dosage is 8 puffs per day) on average.... I am scared that it can do a harm to my hearth... should I be afraid?

It wouldn't be licensed or prescribed if it caused damage to the heart so I wouldn't worry about that.

Fostair 100 is less potent than the 200/6 version. So 5 doses a day, or even 8, are well within safe prescrition limits. Inhaled steroids are safer than systemic steroids (tablets) as they're targeted and are lower in potency and therefore side effects. Regular and consistent use is more effective and if your symptoms aren't improving then you should make an appointment with your asthma doctor or nurse to discuss your symptoms and the efficacy of your meds. Not every asthma inhaler suits everyone and it's important to find the most effective treatment for you. No medicine is without risk but we have to weigh up the risks posed by the disease we're trying to manage. Asthma can be life threatening, so efficient management is the safest option.

I've been on asthma meds for 55 years and have had some close calls, but I'm still here thanks to those asthma meds. Mind you, I'm still learning about my asthma and trying to keep up to date with the latest information based on new research. The more we know about our asthma type, the more we can make positive choices about treatment and lifestyle.

I was on seretide for years and dr changed me to Fostair. Neither the 100 or 200 worked. I am now taking Duo Respimat and have seen a big improvement. Maybe you need to try a different inhaler.
