hi. It’s been a while since I last posted. I’ve been on fostair for 3 years now never seem to have any problems. But for the past 2 weeks every time I use my fostair inhaler through the spacer immediately I become short of breath after taking this I take 2 puffs In morning and 2 puffs at night. I’ve rang up my GP for an asthma review and it’s not until 17th April it’s the weekend now and not sure what to do weather to ring out of hours or just not take it until I speak to my doctor Monday morning. Ahhhhh!!!

hi there, as an asthma sufferer since 18 months old and now 77 , I have been on just about every inhaler invented, Fostair for the last six years and recently failing to get rid of annoying wheezing and short of breath bouts during the night, I had an appointment with an asthma nurse and she said you are able to use Fostair upto four times a day with two puffs each , I was never aware of this before and during the last month my symptoms have all but disappeared , am now back to the normal dose of two puffs morning and night. Three years ago my gp surgery changed my Ventolin reliever to Salamol cfc free, I found this so weak and not effective , was getting through almost three inhalers a year !!! Now back on Ventolin and have hardly used it under my recent diagnosis.

Hi, I was put on Fostair by my GP and my asthma got worse to the point I rang the doctors and was told to speak with the asthma nurse, when I mentioned using it with the spacer and it not working she said( It won't if you have been using the spacer no wonder you feel breathless it won't work ! ) I started using it without the spacer and it worked, I read so many different opinions on here on how to use inhalers its very confusing ?

I assume that you are talking about a dry powder inhaler, as otherwise spacers are normally very useful

I would ring 111. The guidance from the manufacturer of fostair in this position is clear, to seek immediate medical advice.

The fact that it has been going on for two weeks, makes you want to say, just wait until Monday.

However I find asthma scary, so tend to be cautious

hi thank you all for your replies I had an asthma review last week and they have put me on fostair 200/6 Next haler so I have a completely different type where I don’t use spacer. Just getting the hang of it. I’m hoping with the higher dose of it I can be at the top of my symptoms and slowly make my way back down to 100/6
