My constant cough and clearing throat has improved since I stopped Fostair 100/6. Has anyone else noticed this?

I have been on the higher dose Fostair and I’ve been coughing and bringing up phlegm. I had to stop for a Hosptial test and my coughing stopped. I re started the Fostair and my cough came back. I have spoken to the Hospital Asthma team and my GP Asthma Nurse and told them I have stopped taking it. My GP Asthma nurse is going to keep a close eye on me and potentially try another brand of medicine with different steroid ingredients. I am not saying to stop taking your medication, I’m just telling you my experience. Can you speak to your GP or Nurse for guidance?

I've not had a problem with it to be honest, I'm on the higher strength in a DPI rather than MDI because I found the propellant in the MDIs caused problems so maybe ask to try a DPI?

Good luck

Could be the propellant? Perhaps they've changed it? Strange development (if it was alright until recently 🤔) I've been on Fostair 100/6 MDI since 2018, I find it utterly brilliant, hardly only need Ventolin/Salamol during an exacerbation or infection. Were all different though and I hope you've been given a replacement

Yes. That's why I gave up Fostair. The throat irritation was a nightmare.

I have got on well with both fostair 100 and 200, but we are all different. Fostair 100 mart is my favourite.

I think the main thing though is to not just stop taking an inhaler without talking to a medic about it. If you cannot get hold of your medic you can always have a chat with the asthma UK helpline about it.

I've had a similar problem with my Fostair 100/6 but what I started to do is take a couple of spoonfuls of greek yoghurt and my coughing and sore throat has completely gone

Have just been to the ENT department due to a constant cough , diagnosis is that I have an inhaler induced chronic cough due to the drying effects of Fostair as well as a surface change to my vocal chords. Only a few weeks ago I was advised by my asthma nurse to increase the Fostair dose to 4x2 puffs a day. Ended up with palpations and spams, nearly ended up in hospital dose reduced immediately. Thinking of stopping Fostair, conflicting information from professionals.
