Has anyone been on this medication if I put it into the search I cannot find it (Fostair)

It just looks like the BLUE one but its a lot better when you first take it,but the chemist keeps it in the fridge and only lasts three months.

Can anyone help with this topic.

Thanks.

Fostair inhaler contains two active ingredients, beclometasone dipropionate and formoterol fumarate.

Its like sertide etc and combination inhaler with a sertoid and a long acting reliver.

FOSTAIR

I hadnt heard of it either so googled it. Have you access to Google? there's lots of info on it, including a post on this Forum from a few years ago.

im kind of adding a question?

why would you need to put it in the fridge?

three months kinda sounds good im currently getting a bit fed up chasing prescriptions for my 60 dose accuhalers (the docs wont double them up as im still in the trial stages)

Hello

After a discussion with one of the asthma docs about how well some inhalers work concerning maximum deposition as low down as possible in the lungs and improving night time symptoms he came up with using fostair

I’ve been using fostair for the last three weeks as a sort of replacement for symbicort used in the evenings. Prior to this I’ve used symbicort 400/12 for the last four years and although I get reasonable relief during the day, night time is still a problem for me. Both inhalers contain the same long acting LABA drug formoterol, the only difference (apart from propellant and method of delivery) is that symbicort contains the steroid budesonide as opposed to beclomethasone in fostair.

I’ve always had a problem with MDI’s since propellants were changed from CFC’s to HFA’s ( coughed constantly because of usually ethanol propellant) however have always reached higher peak plow readings with MDI’s rather than the DPI inhalers to include LABA’s and SABA’s, hence the reason for trying fostair and, although this inhaler does contain ethanol so far, touch wood. I don’t seem to be getting the same sort of cough. ( Perhaps the combination of excipients suits my system?)

Here’s a link to more detailed info via the manufacturers webpage:

I haven’t been told to store this inhaler in the fridge but I have got a use by date of five months slapped on the side of the canister. When given this inhaler in hospital the doc didn’t comment about any special method of storage. However I’ve copied and pasted some info from the link above concerning the manufacturers recommendations,

‘Prior to dispensing to the patient:

Store in a refrigerator (2-8°C) (for a maximum of 15 months).

After dispensing:

Do not store above 25°C (for a maximum of 5 months).

The canister contains a pressurised liquid. Do not expose to temperatures higher than 50°C. Do not pierce the canister.

Good luck
