Have you seen your GP Babbela? If not, I think it would be a good idea to do so. It could be that your original virus has cleared and what you are left with is an asthma flare.

Personally I'm prescribed Carbocysteine to help thin mucus making it easier to expel when it's there, once cleared the coughing eases. In my experience coughing will inflame my airways causing even more incessant cough. Very tiring indeed, I wholeheartedly sympathise. NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine) does a similar job to Carbocysteine, it's both prescribed in UK and an over the counter . I've been prescribed it in both France and Croatia.

NB I'm not a medic so best ask your respiratory people

Hi, I agree to see your GP - it may be asthma and your preventer needs changing/something needs adding, if nothing is working. Or even if not asthma, you're not getting any better with over the counter remedies so you still need to see the GP to discuss it.

I'd also be careful with the ibuprofen - drugs in that class (NSAIDs) can be an asthma trigger for some people. They aren't triggers for everyone but it may be worth holding off on that one and anything else related like naproxen or aspirin and see if it helps.

You could also call the asthma nurses to chat through -they could give you some options to discuss with your GP: 0300 2225800 or WhatsApp on 07999 377 775 Monday-Friday 0915-5pm
