Hi. Has anyone been put on spiriva as well as their usual inhaler. If so has it made a difference
Spiriva: Hi. Has anyone been put on... - Asthma Community ...
Spiriva
Lots of people are on Spiriva so I assume it is indeed helping them. I certainly find it helps me. As with all asthma meds though, it's personal as to what works so some people will say yes it's brilliant, others will say it's rubbish. But give it a go a d hopefully it'll be really good for you. Again as with all asthma meds, it's important to give it the full time it needs to kick in. Generally asthma preventers take up to 8 weeks to kick in properly. I think this one generally is quicker but I'm sure some people have been told it can take 6 months - not to work at all but for full effectiveness. So if it is helping it might yet help more over time. Good luck with it!
Yes and was on braltus before spiriva (same thing different brand) and I do find they help tremendously
Yes it was a massive game changer for me. I have also used it in emergencies (not how it’s meant to be used) when I have had a big asthma flare up. I swear it stopped me going in to A&E.
I use it as an add-on when I'm in a flare and it's been quite helpful. There are a lot of great posts on Spiriva if you check in the archive!
Hi, I was put on Spiriva earlier in March this year. I didn’t notice any real difference. I was having a big flair up and multiple steroid courses at the time. I was also given Montelukast and then Azithromycin.
My asthma is mostly under control now, but whether it’s partly down to the Spiriva is hard to know. I suppose I would only know if I stopped taking it.
Sorry this is probably not much help. Hope you get sorted .
Hi, I have late onset asthma. At first I was on the blue inhaler. I was taking it four times a night. Then I was on the blue plus brown (cortosteroid) inhaler and I managed 8 hours sleep. I thought they were great but I had to rush for my inhalers every morning so I could breathe. I was then changed to Fostair and Spiriva. My fostair has been cut back to the minimum dose because of side effects (cramps). So my main inhaler is Spiriva it is brilliant. Perfect for me. Once with my doctors permission I tried to come off it. Gradually over five days my hay fever and asthma returned. I now continue to use Spiriva 2 puffs a day it seems to have no side effects. Marvellous.
Hello Jo2006, I take fostair and Spirva and montelukast, and I really don’t know if they are making a huge difference or just a difference. I have an asthma review next week, so will see how my stats are there. At the moment, when moving around, my oxygen level is about 75/76, but I don’t really feel breathless, as I think I’m used to this rate. It takes time to get an inhaler that suits you or agrees with you, not all inhalers do that with everyone, because we are all unique. The only tip I can give you is, stand up if possible to take your inhalers, as this does make a difference. Good luck and stay safe.
Hi I started taking spiriva respimat last year when I was unstable ... Wasn't really sure what difference it makes long term as it's always difficult to tell when you change meds🤷🏻♀️... But recently had a week or so without taking it daily and I could feel myself becoming unstable... So I'm back to taking it religiously. We're all different but I'm my case it adds value.
Good luck.
