So after months and months I am still coughing up thick mucus, sometimes light green but mostly clear ish. I do have a course of steroids and antibiotics to take but I am still smoking at the moment so tomorrow i am going to start these tablets and try not to have a fag. I have also been given tablets to loosen the mucus so hopefully this helps. I have had this crackly cough since last year pretty much and it’s making me get out of breath a lot quicker. Smoking and being over weight isn’t helping me either, I read somewhere that certain vitamins and minerals can help but I don’t know how true this is?
Any advice will be great
Thanks

I had exactly same cough following a change of inhalers (thankfully back to old regime) however I’m a lifelong non-smoker. My consultant put me on mometasone nasal spray which is breaking it up nicely. Apparently it’s common for asthmatics to get sinus irritation and that’s where any bacteria will store itself
You poor thing. I’ve always suffered from mucus, and put it down to smoking.
But when I finally gave up it didn’t go away. Of course, your experience might be very different to mine. However, it shows that those that scream about smoking aren’t always right!!
I now manage It by drinking water. It seems clear fluid does the trick. 0.5 of a litre three times a day. Weird as I drink loads of tea.
