Hi there.

I am from Spain. I've been diagnosed with alergic asthma when I was 4-5 years old. Now I am 37.

I also have anxiety, and my nose it's most of the time blocked in one of both holes, or both sometimes. Using Avamys for this, but don't seem to do anything. A nasal band aid works better for me...

My treatment was: Seretide 25/125 + ventolin on demand + singulair 4mg. Cetirizine in the case of alergic. I started seretide in 2011.

But my problem is that usually I have a lot of mucus from my chest. I don't have cough, but I use to cough in order to expell the mucus when having a shower. However, I suffer chest infections constantly. Last 6 months, I had 3 bronchitis with yellow/green mucus.

And 2018, and 2017...And they don't seem to care about.

The doctors give me antibiotics and prednisone, and then it's goes away. But suddenly, appears again a few weeks later. They have made me 2 chest radiographs in two diffent occasions, and everything seems to be fine.

I starting to think that the use of steroids is causing to me the infections.

However I feel that I need those steroids in order to avoid the crisis. When I was younger I had 3 crisis per year. But from 2011, I never had a bad crisis (to be hospitalized or be unable to breath, or a red line peak flow), and I reduced the use of my ventolin, mostly the first years of treatment.

I don't know if it's important to comment, but sometimes I have gastric reflux (sometimes I experience shortness of breath after eating)...

My height it's 168cm with 75 kilograms (I was 100kg 1 year ago...I lost a lot of weight going to the gym). And my PEF it's 525 (my best). I don't know if it's good or not. I am not a tall guy...

When I have a crisis, my PEF goes down to 400-450. It's not dramatic (still on my green/yellow line) , but I feel a lot the variation. Sometimes I think it's part of my anxiety, about the sensation. My Oxygen it's always fine, 96-99%.

My doctor has changed my treatment a few times, upgrading the seretide to 25/250 2-0-2 puffs, and then the last month to 50/500 with 1-0-1 puffs.

But viewing that my breathing sensations were not very good for me (and I have to use my ventolin too much), now I am starting with Symbicort. I am not very confident about, because the dosage its Symbicort 80/4.5...It's strange for me to go from the stronger seretide, to the lower symbicort.

They told me that it's possible to use it like the ventolin if I need, like a reliever. The normal treatment is 2-0-2. In that case, I don't understand the medical prescription inside my public health card. In the chemist they give me one symbicort per month...So, how it works if I have to use more than 2-0-2?It's supposed I should have more than 1 symbicort per month, right?

The 22/08 i have to make a test blowing a machine, spirometry (I made it one when I was a child, ages ago)...and then I want to visit a neumologist. But here in Spain, all the tests, everything, it's too slow...Meanwhile, here I am suffering...I am not in a critical condition, but I am not happy at all with my life due to that. I use to go to the gym, run (not a lot really, half an hour, with a moderate intensity), and I was improving my phisical. But everything it's blowing away because of my asthma.

Thank you for reading me.

P.D: I never have smoked.

l had bronchitis up to 6 times a year for 56 years until l reset my core temperature. Since the temp reset in 2014 l have not had any bronchitis and only one small sniffle of a 'cold". lt would be interesting for you to take your oral temperature using a digital thermometer to establish whether you are operating at a sub optimal temperature. My average oral daytime temp was 36°C dropping to 34.7°C in the middle of summer. My new average temp is 36.8°C. This does not seem to be much of a difference but it has made a huge difference to my health. There are many pathogens that cause asthma such as ascaris roundworms in the lungs. lf you find that your temp is too low l can describe to you how l permanently increased my core temperature. Good luck.

Normally I use to have low temperature, 35.8-36.00 and I don't tolerate very well the fever. When I am 37.5 i am almost died ahahhaha.

How you managed to reset your temp?

It is well known that people who have low body temps find high ambient temps uncomfortable. I used a hot shower in the morning to elevate my oral temp = core temp to over 39C for a period of 20 minutes. My temp would not go above this [heat shock proteins come into play]. After the initial discomfort I actually enjoyed the higher temp feeling quite good. My nose was running and my pulse rate was increased. A hot drink just before the shower also provided some heat. After the shower I dried and dressed without delay to avoid heat loss. A wooly cap combined with 5 layers of clothing, two pairs of socks and boots completed the set up. I remained like this for the rest of the day. This is important to 'educate' the hypothalamus. Next morning I had a normal shower and 1 hour after my core = oral temp was set at 36.8C. I had reset my temp involving the hypothalamus which is control central. Some people cannot increase their core temp to 39C but as long as it is over 36.8C it will work. I decided to push to MY limit. I had suffered low body temps as a result of anaesthetic from a tonsillectomy when I was 3 years old. No doctor ever picked up on this. There is a slight variance in core temps in humans, optimal resting temp in daytime is 36.8C and during sleep at night it is 36.3C. there is a diurnal pattern. If I am feeling unwell for any reason my temps shoot up quickly and return to normal within 1 day, this is good because a fever can stop an infection in it's tracks. Previously, before the reset a pattern used to form in which 2 days of lowered temp, below my old 36C setpoint would result in a cold or bronchitis developing. I would eventually have a slight fever but it was too late to negate the effect of heavy infection. I would not heal until my temps climbed back up to the already too low 36C. With a higher body temp and a quick high fever colds and bronchitis have disappeared. If you can search for Steve Richfield and body temps online you could find a more detailed analysis, A discussion on body temp can also be found in the link.

One month after my reset, my peak flow was measured at 550 whereas before the reset it hovered around the 400 mark. My thinking became clearer and my cold hands, cold feet, nose and ears went away on all but the coldest winter days. Another very useful tool in boosting temp and energy levels is with a combined red and near infra red lamp. These lamps can increase energy production via ATP at the cytochrome oxidase enzymes sites which are also responsible for phase 1 detoxification and hormone production. Hope this is of use, all the best.

Wow, massive information.

Thank you so much, I will keep an eye on that. I am very curious about it.

Hi and welcome to the forum. 🌺😏

I am sorry that you feel not better, being hard on you. Every person is different with their asthma. I have severe asthma and had lots of problems with infection after infection.

Yes steroids can be very useful to open your airways and take care of inflammation.

But steroids weak your body extremely for any infection. And it is quick that you catch the next one. It's definitely important that you eat healthy and get vitamin supplement for you.

I get now a monthly injection of Mepolizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody used for the treatment of severe eosinophilic asthma. It recognizes and blocks interleukin-5, a signalling protein of the immune system.

I had no infection since a year now, sure I have sometimes a little cold but not that I have to take steroids. I don't know if the injection would help you. But I would definitely speak with you doctor about it. Maybe it can improve your life a bit as it has for me.

I also just extremely out of breath, my oxygen is alright same as yours. I take Fostair 200/6 now to improve my breathing, just started it two weeks ago, was on Fostair 100/6

But my lung is very bad have only 15% volume now, that I might be have to think about a lung transplant end of year if I have no improvement.

I wish you well and take care of yourself.
