Hi i had flu 5 weeks ago. I still haven't recovered. I have had 3 courses of antibiotics and high dose steroids for a month now. I can hardly walk due to breathing dificulties. I have nebuliser. Inhalers . And take maintainance steroids daily. I have had back pain and sore ribs etc. Is there anything else I can do

Having a bad cold can take me several weeks to recover fully but I am afraid I have no dramatic ideas for you to try. Perhaps back to the GP orAsthma nurse?

I personally find that steam inhalation helps to ease and relax my chest but I also know that this is not helpful to all. Also if really struggling I have a decent massage from a therapist ,concentrating on my back, shoulders and ribs. This relaxes my sore ribs and really helps me.

Hope some of this is useful and hope you feel better very soon.

Thanks triggerina. I will try inhaling some steam. Saw Dr again and he says i should improve in a few weeks hopefully

Took my normally healthy friend 8 - 10 weeks to recover from her bout of 'flu recently. She couldn't believe how wiped out she felt!

Rest, good nutrition and fluid intake and if your asthma is worse ask GP for a review of medication. Step up, step down plan is quite useful at such times.
