Has anyone in this group. Had this new wonder drug for Asthma. Just asking on behalf of a friend who is thinking about having this injection. Thanks. Brian

Dupilumab / Dupixent, I am due to start the injections on May 9th, I will let you know after that.

For the past two years I have been on the biologic Fasrensa which has worked in lowering my eosinophils, but my breathing and oxygen levels are still shocking, so we are going to try Dupixent instead.

I would be interested in others' opinions too.

Black seed oil controlled my asthma for 3 years and when Covid hit I began experiencing terrible coughs, but when I began drinking green tea with lemon, honey, ginger and sea moss it went away.? I forgot to mention the sea moss and black seed oil in my initial sign in

I can find no scientific evidence paper regarding the effectiveness of black seed oil for asthma. The only reputable item I can find on the subject says that the evidence is scanty.

Asthma can get truly scary and taking unknown substances, with little control on their preparation is always a risk.

The honey and lemon tea again would work badly for me

Strongly agree - I would avoid recommending all sorts of alternatives to your friend, Bingo88 as they have no idea how they may respond, and it could also interact with other medication they take (for asthma or anything else). Particularly since they seem to have relatively severe asthma and are being considered for a biologic. Just safer not to try various things with no evidence that could be triggers.

Yes I have just told them basic replies I have received and referred them to Asthma and lung for advice or their doctor. Brian

Please be mindful of the community guidelines surrounding complimentary therapies , we do not allow any posts that enforce the message of these therapies being a cure for asthma / changing medications / using alternative therapies instead of conventional medicine for asthma treatment. Discussions alongside conventional treatment is fine.

I am having it right now. No side-effects, and I can inject myself. In terms of if it being effective or not, I do not know yet, they say it takes up to 3 months.

Have been on Dupilumab for about a year and a half now.. before that Benralizumab.

I’m afraid (much like the Benra before) it started off well and now the benefits are beginning to wain a little and I have already had 2 hospitalisations already this year.

The suggestion is that I will now have another change to Tezepelumab but I really don’t want another change so soon.

The only side effect of Dup is that I get dry/ irritated eyes. I have eye drops to alleviate this.

All of my biologics I have self injected at home so I don’t think it’s any better or worse there really other than it is fortnightly, whereas most of the others are monthly.

Hi there, I started off on a biologic (that I can't remember the name of) that didn't do anything, then I was switched to Dupilumab which transformed my life. I went from being in resus fairly regularly to not needing to check where the nearest hospital was. But I had bad eye side effects so the dose frequency was played around with and then I was switched to another one (again I can't remember the name of it) then switched back to Dupilumab again several months ago because they thought that wasn't working as well. I thought it was but there we go. The Dupilumab works but not as well as the first time I was on it. The point is that what works for one may not work for another, it depends on what type of asthma you have.
