Hi all, wondering if my left hip and lower back pain excruciating when I move the wrong way is a thing with psoriatic arthritis? Remedy? Can’t take too many NSAIDs only ibuprofen with lots of carbs to buffer stomach, prescription NSAIDs are a killer for my gut. Already on cimzia, methotrexate and sulfa. Getting pretty down about it.
Hip and Lower Back pain: Hi all, wondering... - Arthritis Action
Hip and Lower Back pain
I wonder if you have Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome? I have (or rather I DID have) a pain in hip and or back which is only relieved if I lie on my back. Not too bad when walking other than uphill.
I saw a physio privately and she diagnosed me with this. Exercises have made a really wonderful difference.
Thanks Happyrosie; what made the pain go away eventually? Exercises?
Yes the exercises. I had to do them every day under guidance from physio, increasing a little each week. Now I have to do just a couple of minutes every day or two. I can give you a link to some exercises if you like but warn you that they are not the specific exercises I was given, which are individual to each patient. And indeed this might not be what you have!
I had previously downloaded some exercises for hip pain from Versus Arthritis and these made it worse, so you need to be properly diagnosed and given exercises specific to you.
Just because you’ve got psoriatic arthritis doesn’t mean you can’t get something else!!!,

I hope this link works. BUT
They are not exactly what the physio gave me - she used only three of the exercises and instead of pressing against a wall I had a flexible strap.
And - it says somewhere within the link that you need to be properly diagnosed, just because your pain is a bit like mine doesn’t mean that you have the same syndrome!
And - it is not dissimilar to the ones from Versus Arthritis - which made things worse. So if you use these take care!
