Hi all im new to this forum.

I have autoimmune inflammatory arthritis.

I cant tolerate methotrexate or imuan, extreme vomiting.

My rheumatologist gave me a depo solumedron 120mgs im injection last Wednesday. Since this Tuesday (almost a week later) my joint pain is worse, mouth ulcers back and i have muscle pain, especially in my thighs.

Anyone else have this. Is it strange, i thought steroids would releive inflammation.

Thank you

A rheumatologist gave me a steroid injection in my shoulder once and a. It never helped the pain and b. I had pain from it for weeks after. I assumed the rheumatologist was not very good at getting the right place to give steroid injections. Other injections in the past have been OK.

Hi Nellies47 sorry to hear your in so much pain I was on Methotrexate but not for a few years, they stopped working for me so they put me on Benapli which also stopped working for me all of this over the course of years, I am now on Olumiant, started on 4mg per day but ive cut down to 2mg per day as 4mg was to strong a dose for me.

If I was you I would go back /phone the rhuematology department and get advice from them

Hope you get some relief soon x

hi. Thank you. My rheumatologist said she wouldn't try me on biologic. She says my liver enzymes are already too high with my PBC and that im not bad enough for biologics. I suppose i should be grateful my not bad enough but i really need to get relief from this pain.

hi I get where your coming from with methotrexate I myself have never actually vomited but bad nausea are you taking folic acid and also a stomach liner before taking any other tablets as for the steroid injection yes they do work but the amount of time it lasts will go down but there are loads of different drugs you can take it’s just getting the right combination for your body I’m lucky the person that deals with me listens to me if I’m having a day but you must tell her and make sure they understand your problems it will get better but you will always have bad flare ups and you getting stressed will make the flare up worse I know what your going through and you have my sympathy but keep on to the person seeing you to get it sorted especially if you have youngsters as at the moment it’s making your life a misery I’m here if ever you want to talk hope what I have said helps & makes sense don’t give up hope
