Hi everyone has anyone tried CBD oil for arthritis? Some one told me he knew a guy that took it (not sure on strength) after he stopped his arthritis symptoms disappeared!

Cbd oil isn’t mentioned by any of the arthritis charity websites I’ve looked at over the last few weeks. If it was thought to help, it would be there!Cbd oil is sometimes promoted as a cure all. If people feel they have benefit then there’s nothing wrong with a placebo effect of course.

I found this did/does help a bit when arthritis is not too bad, but it's not a miracle cure some seem to think it is -sensiwellness.co.uk/sensi-c...

This also helps (unless /until you get to bone-on-bone situation) -

I know a couple of people who get raw cannabis and they say it works well, but is illegal in UK. I have not come across anyone who raves about CBD oil though.

I think he probably took raw vCannabis : so CBD probably won't work for me ..we live in hope I guess.

One day perhaps! Did you know it is not illegal to sell cannabis seeds in UK?

If you go on BBC iPlayer, search for sliced bread. Its a programme on radio 4 where they investingate so called super remedies and gadgets. They did CBD oil. All the science points to it not being effective. They also say that most of the over the counter CBD oil only has a trace in it. Beware what you hear on the WWWeb.

I would agree with the over the counter CBD. But my mine is high strength made from high quality plants. It's effective for child epilepsy and MS so certainly not a placebo remedy

Couldn't do without it. It's pricy though as the cheaper high street ' CBD' is not worth bothering with

I see what you mean I wouldn't know where to start with this one. ..I do need something alongside my high strength turmeric as im taking more and more so don't know how I will manage in the colder months ...😱

Yes, I had some cbd oil that I can't remember where I bought it and it worked a treat - tried to replace it with some from H&B and it doesn't do anything.

I'm afraid it's always someone told someone, but in reality is it feasible. Would the NHS spend millions in RA meds if a simple CBD oil could do the same job? I think it's a no brainer as in of course not. I was so desperate with Shingles pain I bought some. It cost a lot and to be frank I could taste in it minutes, and apart from the monetary damage did nothing at all. So if you want to try it then obviously do, because you have nothing to loose but will it work ? I think it might have a placebo effect but thats all. And if you're on RA meds then before trying it I'd urge you to talk to you're RA team in case of interactions with preceded medications.

Good advice only taking turmeric high strength but inflammation crippled me with flu like symptoms in damp or windy weather. Not sure if only OA or some RA too..

Hi,

Must say that changes in weather affect my arthritis in my shoulders ... mainly right shoulder and although my latest cortisone shot has calmed it down it doesn't stop the incredible pain the accompanies the weather change. I don't need the bloody Met Office or these high profile TV Weather presenters to tell me .... I feel the pain. If it is sunny and dry as at the moment here in Cornwall ( down the pointy end) with a weather change to damp and wet or showery then I feel it. Basically if the humidity gets up high - say above 85% and the barometric pressure drops to say atound 950 mb then my pain goes off the scale. Thank god for CoCodomol 30/500. Wouldn't dream of even contemplating CBD. Last winter was a winter of non stop pain.

Been sunny here in Dorset over last few days…hope for you too.

in reply to DorsetLady

Hiya DorsetLady,

Thanks for your comments. Yep this morning here at the pointy end of Cornwall it is nice n' sunny n' dry .... barometer steady at 1013 mb, humidity at 35% and a gentle breeze = no pain ! Sunday looks to be a tad different !

😪😪I'll find that link and download it ...... but, no surprises I suspect .... always of interest though.

No, no surprises to those of us with arthritis type conditions ….or to those generations before us who complained about “their rheumatics playing up”!

I’ve had a thought since my last reply. I take turmeric as do you, but also take Glucosamine with Chondrotin. It’s a miracle for my big toes, which are rigid. It’s known by research to work on knees. It takes about a week to start taking effect.

Not all retailers are reliable on this according to my pharmacist cousin. I won’t advertise as such but my supplier’s name begins with Health and they are based in Guernsey and they are reputable. I tried some from the High Street H and B and it wasn’t nearly so good.My husband takes magnesium which he finds helpful for back pain (I don’t) and we’ve both tried rosehips but only for one month as nothing happened.

I did take glucosamine in the past alongside many others ended up with a drugs burst ! Basically overloaded because I was so desperate. Il look into a better quality of it or magnesium. Not sure of counter interaction as I take zinc now and then because of weak immune system always catch bad cold after I've been swimming..rosehip I haven't tried x

Just to add i have spondylitis so neck and spine and fingers are painful. But inflammation triggers widespreadpain so mobility is difficult.

I posted about my experience in a post called Natural Pain Relief in Osteoarthritis action section, about a month ago.

I consulted a pharmacist who had done a special study of this and got a few different CBD medications from him - going up in both strength and price they didn’t work for me.
