Keep doing your exercises religiously and take all your meds on time every time. Are you having physio? Ask your physio what they think nearer the time and ask him to talk to your Doc if he thinks your sick note needs extending. Once the swelling goes down - which it should have done by now you should find the exercises easier and can push your self a little more every day to get back into shape. I know it is painful as i have recently been through this. It took me longer than 12 weeks to get over as I had problems due to being on blood thinners and unable to take any anti inflammatories so the swelling took longer to go down. I was doing a little driving at 8 weeks I have an automatic car and had it been my left knee it would have been sooner but it was my right knee so needed that leg on the accelerator.

If you are not quite fit enough to go back to work at 12 weeks then is it possible you could do part time to ease yourself back into working such as going in mornings only or only a few days a week or doing lighter duties?

Sounds like you have a hard job and don’t get to sit. I would try to extend your time off and do lots of exercises and don’t sit much. I would also be concerned about your calf as that could be an indication of an underlying problem. I would definitely have that checked out.
