Hi I am 8 weeks post op with my knee replacement
Just asking where people were at recovering at 8 weeks
I know we all recover different
I was just wondering and not comparing myself to others as I did at first
Thank you

Hiya Lynn,
I had my right knee done (partial knee replacement) in early November 2015. At 8 weeks, I was just about ready to start driving my manual gear shift car again. At 11 weeks I was back at work driving my bus. I did have extensive weekly massage therapy of and around the incision line from when the dressing was removed right up to starting work. This helped prevent scar tissue from forming and made exercising and stretching much easier.

Hi Lynnee1964
I had a total knee replacement on 1 May 2019. At my 6 week check up I was discharged from Consultant and told I could fly. Pleased as I was booked to go to Spain next day.
I certainly didn't receive massage on the scar, wish I had. Maybe because I was retired, I wasn't offered it.
I am unable to kneel on that knee but manage by getting down on good knee and extending new knee. I manage fine until I have to get into a swimming pool etc.
I also still experience a pain in bed most nights. It is bearable. Pleased I had the new knee.
Good luck.

Hi Lynnee1964 , thanks for getting in touch. It's very interesting to hear how everyone's recovery differs, hope your own recovery is going well post-op!
Our website features a number of gentle exercise activities which may prove useful, including some which are specifically designed to build knee stability.
They are designed to be practised at a comfortable pace, however please do consult a healthcare professional before taking part if you have any concerns about whether they are suitable for you.

Let us know how you get on!
Hi Lynnee1964, nice to hear you are progressing with no set backs. I've just got my op date this week for 23rd of March. Fingers crossed it does not get cancelled. Heres to you continueing to progress to normal mobility.
Hi Lynee1964
I'm 4 weeks post op right knee replacement. I also had a left tkr 3 years ago.
I'm currently at not quite 90° bend but not at a stage of driving the car yet. I was 8 weeks last time before I could drive.
I'm only using one crutch around the house but still using two outside to do walking exercise.
I'm still using frozen peas on my knee when it gets tight and using very little pain relief now. I'm also massaging scar.
Hope you are managing ok.
Best wishes.
Hi Lynne
I’m now almost 6 weeks on from mine. Flexion isn’t bad at all but it still feels so tight. I’m massaging like crazy & doing the exercises but it’s quite sore on the scar and I have really heavy achy legs especially at night. Still haven’t tried driving. How are you doing?
