A Sharp intake of Breath!!

I have just been booked in for a knee replacement (hence the sharp intake of breath heading - that's what people do when I tell them!!) as the consultant says I have arthritis and that is what is causing the pain on walking/standing and sleeping. Since this started getting painful back in July I have been on pain killers and have not been able to do my usual 4 or 5 mile morning walk. I have also had to eat more as that helps negate the sickness from the painkillers. Consequently I have put on half a stone in less than six months. Any ideas of ways to exercise and/or lose weight in the next 2 months before my op? I cannot get to a swimming pool which would be the obvious thing to do. I want to be as healthy as possible for this operation, just not sure how to go about it with relatively limited mobility??

I have had two knee replacements this past year. A stationary bike is a very good tool to use before and after your replacement. Also there are several exercises online to help strengthen your leg before and after surgery. Doing these will help you recover quicker. My surgeon gave me a list of the exercises. Prayers that everything goes well for you and you will be back to doing the things you love to do.😊

Thank you so much for your reply and best wishes. I was thinking of doing some cycling but my knee clicks when I do. I guess I can't do any harm to my knee now as having a new one so will start cycling asap. Thanks again.
