Noticing new signs of arthritis pain

For I say past couple of weeks I’ve noticed new signs of pain happening again. This time it’s through my right ankle where the joint is and through the top of the foot. It’s been on going for like I said at least two weeks or so now and it’s not easing up. The other I’m noticing signs that my right wrist feels achy and weak. My dominant side is my right side . I’m right handed and do 99.9% of what ever I’m doing right handed. It’s been a bad week for me as far as the pain level goes. I’ve been feeling it in several areas of my body. But for some reason my right ankle has been very achy even when I’m not on my feet. I’m wondering if I should go to a doctor about this . It can be a shoring pain at times too. It’s odd that only my right side that I’m feeling this and not my left. Any suggestions?

Sandy, I’m 44 . Mine is in several areas of me know. It originally started in my hands and feet seven years ago. Then about a year after it started I started getting signs of it in my knees , shoulders and lower back. Now it’s in the middle of my spine and cervical area of my spine as well. I’ve felt it in my ankle all week this week. It’s been very painful at times this week . My right wrist I’ve noticed that it’s felt weak for several days. I’m guessing I probably should go to a rheumatologist about this. I’ve had a hard time walking too the way my right foot and ankle has been this week. I didn’t mention it’s been confirmed that it’s in my right hip as well. I’m guessing if my right foot gets worse than it is now that they’ll probably recommend to have it fused most likely. It’s been painful for quite some time I’m just now feeling it in the ankle though. My shoes have been bothering me this week while at work. They kind of shoes I ware are Skechers. It’s seems the only type of shoes that don’t bother me are my ugg Olsen moccasins. They don’t seem to bother me. Everything else does though. I’m not comfortable while on my feet all day at work everyday. I wasn’t this week anyway. Next week I’m thinking about waring only my uggs Olsen moccasins to see if that makes a difference for me or not.

Mine are pavers mules ive had five pairs now as i live in them if i put other ones on the pain is right across the top of my foot. I cant walk now without a stick and always been very active. I was a hairdresser all my working life standing all day and my hobby is gardening also always done my own decorating so i think ive just worn myself out ive had a couple of brushes with cancer so im wondering if the medication ive taken hasnt helped. Im also now having regular blood tests for hyperparathyroidism so im hoping once they have done the op some of the pain will go away. Unless people have suffered with arthritis i dont think they realise how painful it is.

Sandy I’d have to agree with you there arthritis is painful even if it’s just a little bit of pain. I’m feeling it in my knees again this morning. I have to use therapy putty for my hands. I can put that in the microwave for about 1 1/2 minutes to ease my hands when they hurt. Still try to figure out what I can do for my feet other than just sit on my bad days. I’ve yet to find anything to help . My working days I have to push myself to get through my day when they hurt like they do. It was all I could do to get through my days this week. I think it’s time to go back to a rheumatologist.

Sandy I’ve never heard of that. My GP hasn’t recommended anything either. I keep telling him what I’m feeling and he’s not doing anything about it to help me. It’s like why should I even tell him anymore? I feel that it is pointless to even say anything to him when I see him.

Plus this seems to start affecting my mobility now it’s been almost 10 years I’ve been dealing with this. It started on me in 2013 , I wasn’t quite 38 yet when it started on me. By the time it started in my spine I was almost 40. When it started in my spine , it started in the lumbar area before starting in the thoracic area, but now it’s confined on two different occasions that it’s now started in the cervical spine area. When I feel it in my spine it hurts like hell in any part of the spinal area, lower ,middle or upper area. I’m hoping this coming week I won’t feel it as much as I did this week. Well just have to see tho I guess.

I would rather have a baby than suffer this pain as its non ending ive always been a tough cookie but this has beaten me. Ive had quite a few injuries and the arthritis seems to be where the injuries were. Fell off ladders painting a ceiling in my 20s and fell on base of my spine then had accident at work got my heel caught in telephone wire threw me on the floor hence broken humerous. Then car accident whiplash fell on the stairs foot bent in footwell all these places are where the arthritis is. And hairdressing and gardening and decorating over the years caused it in my hands as i have lived on my own since i was 38 and done everything myself i use to paint all.my fence panels 23 of them every 2 years so i tbink it all adds up then medication also adds to it

I’d rather have to deal with something else than go through this as well. This osteoarthritis is getting the best on me and has for the last few years. I don’t want to have to be wheelchair bound but at this point it’s very much looking that way. Do to the way it is in my spine and feet now. I’m not even in my 50’s yet. I’ve got five years before I hit 50 . Lord only know how I be in the next five years . Most likely worse than I am now.

Sandylo , Ive got through a lot in my life starting as an infant but damn this pain can be hell at times. Been operated on twice in my life starting as an infant then again around the age of 5. Hell I’d rather go through that again then have to feel this non stop everyday like I do now. The thoracic area of my spine has hurt like hell this week. Damn this.

My wrist this week have felt weak. Makes my hands feel like they’re going to loose grip or strength while carrying things. I work in a eye-ware lab and I’m constantly carrying the trays for the lenses and frames. If I’m hold four or more of those at a time my wrist feel very weak.

I've been reading 'Healing Arthritis: Your 3-step Guide to Conquering Arthritis Naturally' by Susan Blum. It puts much of it down to problems in the gut and gives a detailsed explanation of how to heal it through food, herbs etc. Definitely worth a try, or find her on the internet.

Polski, don’t think there a way to heal arthritis once it starts. Also that’s the first time I’ve heard it to do anything with the gut. Although I have herd that some foods that we eat may cause inflammation in the joints though. But no doctor hast told me anything about herbs that I should use to help it. Like I told Sandylo I think I need to go back to a rheumatologist. Do to the fact everything from my waist down hurts like hell right now. Hopefully my right wrist won’t act up again like it has this week.

And this is the first time I have seen such a claim too, but the effect of the gut on so much of our health is cutting-edge science right now. This lady is a doctor, and pioneer of functional medicine which is at the forefront of new approaches to health. She wrote a book in 2013 'The Immune System Recovery Plan' which outlined the principles which she is now applying specifically to arthritis. It is most obviously applicable to rheumatoid arthritis, but is relevant to the other kinds as well, which she does address in the book. It is all based on the work she has been doing with patients at her clinic in New York over the last twenty years.

If you have that much pain - what do you have to lose? (Answer - pain!) If you don't enjoy reading, try looking at her website BlumHealthMD.com

Of course, visit your doctor as well as it takes time to follow this approach, which aims to deal with the root cause of arthritis in the body. But don't expect your doctor to be aware of the book's contents. It takes time for things like this to become mainstream.

I think you are right Polski and I will be very interested in that website. The book Strong Women and Men beat Arthritis helped me a lot, but is probably a bit old fashioned now.

Tackling every new problem joint with appropriate exercises and stretches is also important as is warmth.

All doctors do is referring you for operations when you are bad enough.
