Medical assessment

Hi everyone, I went for a DWP medical, I received a response 2 weeks later 26/11/18. They say I have limited capability for work and placed I’ve been placed in the WRAG where I’m to prepare for work. e.g sorting my cv and group sessions over the next year etc

The problem is that I have osteoarthritis in numerous joints and also rheumatoid arthritis. It has become steadily worse and when a rheumatoid attack starts I am left debilitated and cannot do anything due to the pain.

Why have I been placed in WRAG when my condition is getting steadily worse. It’s a degenerative disease

I’m confused ?

Any answers please

Just see your gp and get a sick note and tell him your not fit to work and hand it in to your nearest job centre, I had to do that for a couple off months when I was medically pensioned off from my work and was then transferred over to the support group as they could see I couldn't work anymore, an absolute joke off a system xxx

Thanks for the advice pop smith. So if I have an appointment for a work related activity and I’m not up to it, then I should get a sicknote and that will be ok and not effect my benefits ?

Thanks for the reply

Hi thanks Patricia , no this is the new style universal credits. I think Manchester is one of the first to use it.

There are 2 categories to the new style UC if you are deemed unfit for work. The one I’ve been placed in is WRAG , where after a year I will be re-assessed. As part of WRAG I have to attend appointments to update a CV or go to group meetings . It’s classed as preparation for work, although I don’t have to look for work . The other part of the UC is the SUPPORT in that category You are deemed longterm unfit for work and do not need to attend any appointments.

Thanks for the information I’ll look into it
