Hi, I cannot believe this either, where are they coming from it would seem there is no interest in the situation of a person, just get them back to work no matter what! I'm glad it's not me that has got this letter I think it would have boiled my brain, what can I say?

i called them straight away, they said i can have a home assessment. its crazy that they still want to see if i can go back to work.... even though they have all the details. my blood is boiling.

Yes. When is there going to be common sense exercised? These stupid decisions must waste much more money to investigate than they are supposed to save.

So sorry to hear this mollyandmaisie . It does sound like a bureaucratic and badly timed process and we imagine must be very frustrating. We hope it all goes well and send you some positive energy for the assessment.

Happy recovery from all of us in Arthritis Action!

update on the fiasco of esa. i still cant get out of my house having both knees replaced. cant sleep until around 5 in the morning and then only for a couple of hrs due to terrible pain not only in my legs but in my lower back, hip, and bottom. pain.pain.pain. its relentless! got a phonecall from the jobcenter telling me i MUST go in and see the work coach regarding me getting back to work. only in exceptional circumstances will they do an assessment over the phone. going back to work???? are they serious! i cant get out of the house. i cant even use the stairs juggling 2 elbow crutches. the woman on the phone spoke to me with a demeaning attitude, like it was me being difficult. the result........ i have to be available on fri morning for a 1 hr phonecall as she will just this time, make an exception. please god tell me how on earth i am supposed to go back to work????? i have worked all my life from the age of 17 till now, 58. owned my own business for 25 yrs until i couldnt use my fingers and legs due to severe arthritis. NEVER been out of work. and now im spoken to like a second class citizen. i just want to cry.

I don't know what to say, it's shocking. Kick up a fuss. Threaten to contact your MP. Local disability charity - is there a CAB near you who can give advice if the worst comes to the worst and they put you in the work-related group. It's crazy. I think it's terrible how they treat people as if we're all lazy. Surely, after seeing your medical files they would know there's no way you can go back to work.
