I've been prescribed naproxen and amitriptyline which seems to help.

I suffer from osteoarthritis and honestly don't think any pills help a lot! Tramadol made me feel spaced out. I'm currently on co-codamol and morphine based patches but nothing seems to work. I am waiting for a hip replacement so I hope that will help a bit but the medication does nothing for the pain in my fingers and back. Like you, Sammy, I would be interested to know if anyone knows the secret to pain relief. I do feel that our doctors are over-prescribing pain relief medication these days which worries me somewhat. Best wishes to all.
