Hi. I have to take rivaroxaban anti coagulant due to af. So gp said i must never take ibuprofen or naproxen again due to risk of bleed.

Ibuprofen really helps my joint pain so I still take 1 400mg per day. Does anyone know a safe alternative. Codrydamol and lyrica i take at night but constipating.

Hi Icenae,

I am on warfarin and when introduced to it in the beginning I was told the same thing. I was prescribed CoCodomol 30/500 (prescription grade/strength here in Britain). That does the job and was my saviour back in the day when I had osteoarthritis in the right knee and so much pain. It even did the job with the pain in the immediate post op days after I had a partial knee replacement. The only constipation I got was post op when I was taking the maximum daily dose. (2 to be taken 4 times a day). I overcame the constipation by eating grapes.

Hi,I take rivaroxaban also, I have had 4 hip replacements on th same side as well as back fusion. I take naproxen each day, and also 2 paracetaml and 2 codeine together when needed but certainly first thing in the morning---to combat constipation I take a movacol satchet each morning. I hope this helps I add I am 69 and very busy with 9 dogs!! who help immensely!

Hi Icenae. I take meds for pain one of which is 12 hour slow release morphine. Morphine also causes severe constipation and the doctor has prescribed Laxido for me, which is a long term laxitive and certainly does the job for me. I was using senakot and got 'told off' for that lol. Maybe your doctor could prescribe Laxido to help you.
