but apixaban does one thing and ibuprofen a completely different thing ???? They aren’t interchangeable?

Good if you actually think Apixaban helps joints !!!! It does not help mine but, it hopefully stops me having a stroke.

this is really something you should be asking a pharmacist- there may be one attached to your doctors surgery.

You are already on a heart medication so taking advice from us non-professionals wouldn’t be a good idea.

I have RA and take Riveroxaban, ibrufen is a total no. But a lot of other stuff is ok so I’d suggest talking to your gp. I’m not sure why but could well be risk of bleed.

I take Apixaban and have intermittent back pain from disc trouble. I was advised to avoid all NSAID's as they have the ability to increase the potency of anticoagulants and may cause bleeding. My doctor said I could use Piroxicam gel sparingly but only for a short time for relief, otherwise I take over the counter co-codamol.

As others have advised, this is something to discuss with your doctor who can prescribe safe pain medication, for example stronger co-codamol at 15/500mg and 30/500mg. Best wishes.

My problem is if I take 2 cocodamol I become drowsy so can’t work as fall asleep at my desk

I take just one co- codamol at a time and it works enough to function without drowsiness.

Naproxen is a NSAID like ibuprofen and Nurofen so don't take it until you have asked your doctor if it's ok as you are on Apixaban. I find co-codamol helps with pain but it can cause constipation. If you find taking two co-codamol makes you feel sleepy take one co-codamol with one paracetamol.
