Hi can anyone suggest a good pain killer for osteoarthritis please?

It's now in most of my joints and spine and Im currently taking diclofenic which is useless. I do go to pain management for my other conditions and have morphine but it doesn't help. I'm due there next week so it would be great to hear anybody's views

Take care

Hello jk2833. We are not professionals it would be dangerous for us to recommend medication. What suits one person might not suit somebody else, every ones metabolism is different, go back to your Doctor tell them and ask if there is anything else you can try. I had to try three times before I found something compatible. Hermes123.

Hi jk. Just be aware that there is not such thing as a pain killer o ly medication that can help with the relief of pain. You say you have morphine that doesnt work. is that Oramorph ?

No one except a medically trained person can advise which medication is right for you. Often it is just a trial and error process that you will go through with the Pain clinic and your GP.

Diclofenic is not advised so much now due to the effect on the stomach. Pity as it works well for me.

All medications have their side effects and will suit some people not others.

I hope all goes well at the pain clinic.

Thanks everybody, firstly can I just add I don't just rely on medication I eat lots of fruits & salads, practice mindfulness daily and use heat with the occasional aramotherapy oils. I don't just grab the medication at the first point of call if anything I would prefer not to have it, I'm also epileptic and have M.E , spinal stenosis, plus I had a mini stroke along with the OA.

I was just interested in other people's experiences with varied medications not for someone to say you must ask for this or that.

I used to be on transtec patches 52. 5 for years but become immune to them so wearing one was the same as not wearing one if that makes sense? I have oramorph for rapid relief that doesn't work anymore, zomorph 10mg for 3 times a day, which helps a little, 10mg diazepam for night time for muscle spasms, and the diclofenic which just aches my stomach.

Had gabepentin, pregab etc years ago with no success. I'm just not knowledgeable on arthritis medications at all thus asking you members.

I've not had more than 2 hours sleep on a night since July so I'm feeling pretty desperate.

Thanks for taking the time to read & reply

Hi jk i found the only thing that worked for me was Diclofenic, which was given to me on a trip to Australia as i was in pain. Doctor there gave me just enough to get me home. Dr at home would not give them to me at any price. Sods law or what.

Good luck finding a good otc pain killer for osteoarthritis. I've tried just about anything I can think of for my OA and still haven't found anything to help me. Mine is in my shoulders, hands, knees and spine as well. Just recently started getting discomfort in my spine in the middle. Vary uncomfortable. The pain pills my doctors have given me in the past couple of years haven't helped either for me. Once again good luck to finding something that helps you. J. D. Quinn
