Hi. Been 3 years since I got diagnosed and I was doing fine on my meds. Quitapine 100mg and sertraline 200mg. And saw my psychiatrist regularly and my GP has been amazing! But recently been diagnosed with Tocaphobia. Didnt know if any other mums OR dads have had the same? Man thanks S x

Hello Sm2016

Welcome to the forum where you will find lots of support. I'm glad you were doing fine on your meds after being diagnosed with such a traumatic illness 3 years ago. I had PP many years ago but don't have experience of Tochaphobia to share. I understand it's a fear of pregnancy so can I ask if you are thinking of adding to your family? Has your GP considered any therapy which may be available to help you?

Take care.

Hi Sm2016,

Welcome to the forum and it is good you have found us. There is lots of support and amazing people on here, so I hope you find it helpful.

I had PP 4 years go now, but I have not had any experience with Tocophobia. When I was poorly and also when I was recovering, I did seem to have some fearful thoughts surrounding pregnancy and childbirth, but I think this could be described as more PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), related to the trauma of the birth and then developing psychosis, as opposed to Tocophobia.

Are you seeing someone about this diagnosis? One of the things that is suggested to help is talking though your fears and anxiety, and also CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) has been suggested to be helpful. Do you have any access to these kinds of treatments?

Thinking about you and take care,

Sally x
