Hi Mariae, as another poster has said....give Lorazepam a swerve! I'm surprised your Doc has prescribed you this as its now very unusual....especially in Uk. I have been on Lorazepam for around 6 years and completely dependant. I take up to 5/7 2mg pills a day now and although help....the side effects such as, mood swings, sweats, lethargic, shakes in the jaw and legs first thing in the morning are now the norm! Tried wean myself off a couple of times and was terrible....the withdrawals are very bad. However, I am a long term user and dosage is high....if you can keep to. Sensible dose, they do work.....but they also creep up on you. Take care and best if wishes

Hi kuldipkenya I would advise against you taking Ativan (Lorazepam) It is a Benzodiazepine - this medication is highly addictive and should only be taken in the very short term maybe 1 week to help aid relaxation and sleep. If you do some research about this drug on the internet you will find out - don't take it. You can become dependent upon it you don't want to add an addiction such as this on to any other problems you may be experiencing there are various self help techniques a few people have outlined some of them on this website also check out mind.org for help with mental health issues such as anxiety Lorazepam IS NOT the answer. Also ask your GP to refer you to a Specialist Counsellor for therapy such as CBT . GOOD LUCK

propranolol it seems the least intrusive medication, all the others i've tried have literally left me feeling drugged. propranolol is mild yet effective depending on the severity of your anxiety :)

Was on propranolol for about two years. I started having a dull pain in my heart. So my gp stopped it. I am on escitalopram 20mg. Not helping much.

Actually I had stents fitted in arteries of heart. So Gp is reluctant to give anything else.
