Hi, Whitey

yes, yes, and yes again! Frequently, horrible ones - though not recently - they are very common, and yes, they CAN be very scary - BUT they can't hurt you. They are ONLY thoughts - they're not real! The best way to deal with them, if you can, is ignore them - distract yourself - you can't think of 2 things at once- try it, you'll see lol! So next time, think of something else - normal, like - I need to do some ironing, think I'll tidy my bedroom, go for a walk, paint the wall pink - anything, to distract your mnd. Watch tv, listen to music, phone a friend. The trouble with these thoughts is, like squatters, the more "house room" you give them, the more they'll take. If you can just say "Oh, it's you again, is it? Shove off!!" they will lessen their power to scare you.

Have a look at this:-

anxietynomore.co.uk/anxiety...

Good luck, and remember, thoughts can't hurt you!!!!

Hi James, yes, it is anxiety - sorry, I don't pretend to know why/how they come, not a dr/psychiatrist, but they are caused by anxiety - some therapists call them "Ants" -Automatic Negative Thoughts - thinking of them as horrible little ants getting in where they're not wanted is quite helpful, I think. And - ants - the real ones! - are a nuisance, but not dangerous! Hope this helps!

Cheers

Hello James I read you didn't get much from cbt I only had four sessions and was told I seemed to be coping very well with my anxiety and panic disorder only for a week later to end up in AnE after a big panic attack however the cbt did interest me as it did make me think so I bought a book about it , it's got the unfortunate title of cognitive behavioral therapy for dummies I found it easy to read and explained cbt better than my therapist if your a reader give it a try your limited for time in cbt sessions and this book gives you time to absorb it a bit better I hope your life will improve and you leave this behind

I kept getting thoughts that I would lose control and hit someone or make some horrible scene in public. My CBT therapist reassured me that this was very common for anxiety disorder. The anxiety is always trying to find ways to subvert your thoughts. Are you getting treatment? Best wishes.

Hi karri I have already had cbt but did not find this useful. I am currently On 30mg mitazipine.I have thoughts of what if I hurt my love ones and work colleagues it makes me sick to the stomach with fear. I have been referred for emotional dynamic therapy still have not a clue what this means? Just got to keep my head up and hope for the best. It's all very scary when you get court up in the anexity circle. You worry about Medcation then you worry about the way you feel it goes on!!!! The never ending what ifs. It drives me mad.

Thanks

James :) .
