Hi all,Citalopram has anyone had appetite problems & lost weight taking this?

Hello Gretch, I am on citalopram 10mg i have been on them for 5 weeks now.Some of the side effects i had were lack of appetite it just went so i did notice i little bit of weight loss,also i had trouble sleeping and awful sweating. I do think now they are begining to have some effect for me the side effects have almost gone and i am pleased to say my appetite is back although my sleeping could be better i can have a really good few nights then have a horrid one like last night where i was still awake at gone 2am. i would say stick with it if you can i am sure things will get better for you.

I have been on citalopram for 5months My appetite is all over the place I can't eat untill at least lunchtime I have put weight on but doc said could be a contribution of age (middle age spread ) poss eating wrong foods and not working at moment unfortunately the drug has not really made me feel any better so I am changing hope it works for you as its a good med if it does take care x

Hi Gretch, I've been on 20mg citalopram for past 10 years on and off. If anything I've put weight on, appetite not suffered at all. Possibly because when I'm not anxious I'm happy so eat. Luckily for me I don't gain weight easily.

i have 60mgs of citalopram a day & have done for several years @first i had no appetite & lost some weight but im fine now & gained the weight again.

I was on 60mg for a long time and struggled eating any proper meal. I just wanted to snack on a biscuit here and there but it did improve after a while.

Iv been on cito for 6 years. Couldnt eat at all to start with. Ive since put on 4 stone. Im blaming the tablets and not the Carling.

It's difficult to say because everyone's different. I think as with any drug, one can gain or lose weight. Personally, I started taking celexa (citalopram) from generic-meds-store.com about 4 months ago and have gained about 15 pounds. It’s been good for me because I was skinny as a rail and now I’m putting some weight on. I’d like to gain another 20 pounds and I’ll be happy !!
