hello everyone,
I found this site after googling free support for ones with severe social anxiety. After reading some postings I decided to join and here’s my first post. So, I have severe social anxiety. It’s odd though, when I’m in my comfort zone I can speak to strangers with no problem. For example, my job I’m a medical assistant and works directly with patients. But, because I’m in a place where Im comfortable, I seem to have no issues. I’m currently a nursing student and my social anxiety has become very apparent. I’m currently doing clinical rotations and my anxiety has become so apparent now it’s gotten to the point where it’s borderline panic attacks with profuse sweating. When this happens i immediately get to the nearest restroom to try and calm myself down. I love patient care and love helping people but being out of my comfort zone has really put a damper on my ability to provide the best service for my patients. Does anyone here have any advice/recommendations on how you’re working through your anxiety especially in places that are out of your comfort zone. I feel like I’m at a standstill and don’t know what else to do.
